"You're Not The Woman I Married!"
Man Wants Alimony Terminated For Tranny Ex-Wife

gavel2.jpg
It's what's on the inside that counts, right? Not according to Floridian Lawrence Roach. He and his wife Julia were happily married for 18-years, but called it quits in 2004. With the divorce, Roach agreed to pay Julia $1,250 a month in alimony. Since then, however, Julia's since become a man and changed her name to the at-once ridiculous and fabulous, Julio Roberto Silverwolf. Yeah, nuts...

Anyway, Roach and his attorney claim that now that Julia is Julio, he shouldn't have to pay. Roach's lawyer, John McGuire insists:

It's illegal for a man to marry a man and it should likewise be illegal for a man to pay alimony to a man. When she changed to man, I believe she terminated that alimony.
The terms of the alimony agreement, however, stipulate that Roach must pay until Silverwolf dies or remarries, neither of which has happened.

The Associated Press reports that a similiar case unfolded in Ohio, when a man attempted to cut his ex-wife became a man. The court there ruled against him. And so they should have - it seems to us that what someone does with their body after a marriage has nothing to do with their divorce settlement. But, you know, we're all gay and shit, so what do we know?

If you have the tens of thousands of dollars to do the surgeries, you don't need the alimony now do you? It is computeed based on need.

WTF? says:

I agree with Bob; this person is hardly dependent upon his/her former spouse.

Roci says:

Alimony is also awarded based on the archaic notion that gender does not change. It further supposes that a woman is incapable of providing for herself after being dominated in marriage under an oppressive patriarchal society. There is also an anti-feminist logic that a woman's value is tied to her youth, which she irrevocably gave up in marriage, now she is worth less and must be supported. Society does not want the burden of caring for divorced women through welfare, so it burdens former husbands with that cost.

A newly-made man would have none of those hindrances to achievement. The concept of alimony under such circumstances becomes one that enslaves the former husband and places a claim on all of his productivity without producing any socially meritorious benefits.

I am sure this case law will be used to craft better divorce/alimony settlements in the future.
