Manhunt.net Tops Internet
Gay.com Bites Pillow

If you thought that Britney Spears story was big, wait until you hear this one: Manhunt.net now has the distinction of calling itself the biggest homo website in America. Huge, right? How huge? We don't know, we haven't read their profile, but we're thinking long and thick.

The press release (note: not a news release), states:

Since it’s inception as a phone line dating service that still exists today, Manhunt.net has grown into a virtual gay microcosm that reaches all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Brazil and the UK. This week, Manhunt.net continued its growth by launching in all of Western Europe. The site adds about 10,000 new members every week and bills itself as the world’s fastest growing gay website.

It is primarily geared to facilitate gay male sexual hook ups, but has grown into a place where friendships and serious relationships can begin.

Huh? People have gotten into relationships with their Manhunt tricks? Wow.

Don't be fooled, though. Manhunt's rise to power proves that we gays are just as slutty as ever. (It's nice to have some stability, don't you agree?)

Full release after the jump...

For Immediate Release

MANHUNT.NET OVERTAKES GAY.COM

Popular Hook-Up Site Becomes Leading GLBT Website in the USA

New York, NY - This week, Manhunt.net became the top GLBT website in the country, edging out previous leader Gay.com by over two percentage points in market share. According to the latest results by Hitwise.com, a web tracking agency, Manhunt.net scored 21.4 percent market share of the online GLBT community in the final quarter of 2006, a 5 percent rise from last year (16.62). Gay.com fell from 32.7 percent market share in 2005 to 19.01, losing close to 13 percent of their hold of the online GLBT community.

“The tortoise has finally passed the hare,” announced Jonathon Crutchley, a founding Partner of the Boston-based Manhunt.net. “We did it the old fashioned way, building a business city by city, making ourselves part of the local gay communities through partnerships with gay nightclubs, bars, businesses, and especially through outreach to the health community. We didn’t have millions of dollars of other people's money to throw at marketing."

Phil Henricks, Director of Marketing, added, "Manhunt.net is the 'little site that could'. When I joined the team four years ago, we were a popular site in the Northeast, preparing to launch in California. Now we have over 1,000,000 members worldwide.”

“In rural areas especially, Manhunt.net has become the neighborhood bar,” confirmed Larry Basil, another founding Partner. “Not everyone logs on for the quick hook up, though we do encourage members to be as free, honest and sexual as they want to be.

“Part of our success,” he continued, “is that Manhunt.net does not try to be all things to all people. We are a focused site for gay men who want to chat with and meet other gay men. There are no politics, fashion or gossip on manhunt.net. We keep things simple; a strategy that has worked for us.”

A monthly membership fee of $10.00 entitles members to unlimited access on Manhunt.net, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A free option is available for those who want to get a taste of what the site is about. Over 22,000 men are on the site at any one time each night.

“Because they are a public company, Gay.com is forced to hide their sexuality and racier content,” continued Henricks. “Luckily we don't have shareholders to answer to, only members.

“To remain on top, we will continue what we have been doing; listening to our members, reaching out to the gay community and keeping the site simple and focused. 2007 will be our best year yet.”

Manhunt.net - it's the good, the bad, and the ugly of gay hookups.

I'm not sure it's managed to catch up with Gaydar over here in the UK. Over the summer / pride season, there was a whole lot of promotion for Manhunt.

It comes handy when you need a quick fix. www.fuckrace.com is even greater since it is totally free with video profile feature. It cums even handier, just watching video profiles. It is like free sean cody, corbin fisher, or randy blue with the actual opportunities to fuck them!

There are so many sites. The best ones are with the video chat and video profile features, like AtomicMen.com, which actually does give you options for dating and friendships not the illusion of it. MH is a limited site. If I am goinna cruise someone in Europe I think I want to video chat him before flying over there to marry him. ;-)

Gay.com lost a lot of people (me included) when it started restricting their free stuff and started charging a lot for access, like 30 a month.

Manhunt charges $10 a month, and doesnt make everything so difficult. I used to work it out on gay.com, and aol before that (whoa, the 90s), but now if I need to hunt for a man, its manhunt baby!

But look out, adam4adam really seems to be making headway.

I have been a Manhunt's member since the beginning and I still find it fascinating! The customer service and presentation is excellent, it is user friendly and some of the guys' pictures are very hot. It satisfies hook up needs as well as voyeuristic and social ones for $25 per quarter. Not bad if you consider that you might spend more one night cruising at bars in WeHo.
