A Girl Like Me

Lifetime has been helping us fill our quiet weeknights at home for a while now, with depressing movies about moms with gay sons who get killed in various situations (the army, by townies, etc.), and now they're branching out with a new film about famously tragic trannie Gwen Araujo. A Girl Like Me stars former Ford model J.D. Pardo as Gwen and Mercedes Ruehl as his mom (who turns out to be the main star of the movie, this being television for Women). Steel yourself for something truly depressing, but possibly moving, as Lifetime's movie budget has gone up considerably in the last couple years.

UPDATE: Check out the review at AfterElton.
