Hundreds of Sacramento-area students rallied to support four students suspended for wearing anti-gay shirts. One participant said: "It's only going to get worse against Christians. We're going to get persecuted more and more. But those who stand to the end: God is going to save them." Um, right...

As you contemplate the gaping, stuffed cavity of your Thanksgiving turkey this year, remember to show gratitude for Lawrence v. Texas, the 2003 Supreme Court decision that ruled anti-sodomy laws unconstitutional. Sodomy is in the mind of the beholder; some use the word in reference to anal sex only, whether between hets or homos, while others consider nipple tweaking between men or tribadism between women to be included in the general, delightful category of sodomy.

Pocahontas

Though YOU might be able to have gay sex with legal impunity before, during, and after your Thanksgiving meal, homosexual acts remain punishable by death in Afghanistan, Mauritania, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. In Bangladesh, Bhutan, Guyana, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Singapore, and Uganda, a quick blow job could get you life in prison. The food in the prisons in Nepal is said to be disgusting, so there’s another reason for you to give thanks over your meaty drumstick with its accompanying sweet potato balls.

If your bigoted great-great-aunt sneers at your giving thanks for Lawrence v. Texas, remind her that you have a constitutional right to wallow in “abominable and detestable crimes against nature,” as gay sex has been defined by oh so many religious loonies. Henry VIII, who had two of his wives killed for the sake of political expediency, introduced the Buggery Act of 1533; it was the first legislation against butt-f*&cking and made that activity punishable by hanging. After the first sodomite went to the public gallows, one bloke in the crowd asked another “Do you think he was well hung?”

Looking for some turkeys to stuff this year? Feces on the Family, or, excuse us, the group is called Focus on the Family, is going to be out in force along the length of the Macy’s parade, distributing materials promoting an ex-gay ministry. Macy’s can’t lift a limp whanger against the group because the parade is on public property. That doesn’t exactly excuse Dr. Phil and Oprah Winfrey, on whose programs “Feces” began running ads this past Monday.

Oprah

Oprah once said: “Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not.” Queerty calls for her to put her money where her mouth is and order the Feces ads removed from her program’s time slots.

An FOF web site offers visitors pages addressing various problems, including “Gambling” and “Spiritual Struggles;” they need to add one for “Narrow Mindedness.”

The campaign of ignorance about homosexuality will include the tossing out of hand-sized squeezable “stress balls” imprinted with the Feces ex-gay message. Queerty can think of no better protest than for drag queens to mob the parade route, catching the balls, squealing with delight, and then padding their bras with them. If Macy’s wants to make it up to us next year, they should introduce a balloon modeled on Jared Leto’s member.

• When speaking about a Christian woman murdered by a gay man Kathy Valente, state director of Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Illinois, said “equally as tragic as Mary’s death is the death sentence imposed on people who are enslaved in this deadly behavior.” Yes this bitch compared homosexuality to murder. Hateful. You can email her if you want.
