The first gay hotel in the world, Hotel Axel opened in Barcelona in 2003 and has had enough success to open a new branch in Buenos Aires, to be unveiled in 2007. It promises to contain the original Axel's recipe of "cutting-edge architectural designs [that] create a liberal, cosmopolitan atmosphere where you will enjoy all of the comforts you can imagine" plus lots of half-naked, tan men lying around everywhere.

The company plans to expand branches to other "cosmopolitan" cities and hopes to become the "best chain of gay hotels in the world." We pray they open one in New York ASAP since there is definitely a lack of high-concept hotels and pretentious places for gays to hang out.
