Hundreds of Sacramento-area students rallied to support four students suspended for wearing anti-gay shirts. One participant said: "It's only going to get worse against Christians. We're going to get persecuted more and more. But those who stand to the end: God is going to save them." Um, right...

Sony's banking on Spider Man 3. Literally. Some insiders claim the flick cost $300 million to produce. No doubt, however, it'll make it back. And then some.

The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission will honor Nepal's Blue Diamond Society for all their hard activist work. Unfortunately, they will not be honored with actual blue diamonds.

Maryland's House has passed a bill requiring health insurance companies to extend benefits to same-sex partners and children. The bill now needs to be signed by the governor to become a law. (We totally just had a School House Rock flashback.)

Sri Lanka may forbid homosexuality, but that's not stopping gay activists from planning a pride event. Trouble is, they don't have any money. Do you?

VV gay cover

• With the exception or perhaps the New York Times, every publication here in New York is doing a "gay issue" in honor of gay pride. But so far, it's only the Village Voice's edition that got our attention. [VV]

• In other (rather upsetting) media news, local Pennsylvania paper The Morning Call banned columnist Frank Whelan after he appeared as grand marshall of a gay pride parade. The paper's editor claimed Whelan's stint showed his support of gay marriage — and we thought columnists were free to be subjective. [Express-Times]

• A gay cowboy at a nude beach? Who cares if the Human Rights Campaign wasn't behind it — they got some great, ahem, exposure. [BlogActive]

• Holla at our kid sister blog MollyGood, which just landed in the pages of Star magazine. Because just like us, Molly measures her self-worth by press mentions. [MollyGood]

• What is pride to you? [NYC LGBT Center]

MySpace will no longer let anyone over the age of 18 contact a minor — though it has no way of verifying anyone's age. So 40-year-old daddies looking for 16-year-old twinks need only like about their age, except this time they'll need to say 17 instead of 30. [AdAge]

Musto

The Village Voice celebrates its 50th year next week. This is also Michael Musto’s 20th year at the Voice. Those are two major milestones. Musto’s column, La Dolce Musto, is legendary. But you already know that. Michael took some time out of his party schedule to talk with us about his 20 years at the Voice, Madonna, and Star Jones.

You are celebrating your 20th year with the Voice. What has been your biggest accomplishment?
I pioneered snark and was openly gay way before that was cool. I stuck to my guns and kept afloat and now I'm probably not snarky or gay enough!

Which celebrity has been the sweetest? The biggest bitch?
Ninety nine percent of celebrities are actually quite decent. It's there publicists that should burn in hell. I have a soft spot for Parker Posey, who's always radiant. As for the biggest bitch, Boy George once gave me attitude at my own party. (He was mad about something I wrote about Taboo.) He bristles a lot, though he's basically soft and lovable way, way deep down.

We adore trannies as much as you. If you had to name the number one tranny in NYC, who would it be?
Ivana Trump.

I give you 1 Million dollars. What would you buy?
My apartment.

After the jump: Michael talks about Madonna and the Roxy, Gawker, and Star Jones.

• A new survey lets the cat out of the bag over homo TV habits. Gay men are all aflutter over A&E and Bravo and dykes love their HBO and ESPN.

Matthew Shepard's mom is speaking at a college in Montana and the entire campus is all worked up. But these party poopers are celebrating with protests and bomb threats. Welcome to Unabomber country.

• Still no lessons learned from Matt's senseless murder. Another homophobic attack left a London man dead this past weekend.

• A gay editor at the Village Voice (redundant, we know) is suing the publication for sexual harassment. The man alleges lewd jokes were made involving "gay men, lesbians, a Vietnamese worker, and a pregnant employee." Wait. Now we need to know the first part of the joke. We think it might be "A Vietnamese worker, a pregnant employee, and a lesbian walk into a bar to bitch slap a completely humorless gay editor?" Hysterical.

• Andy Towle has some shots from GQ of lusty teen NHLer Sidney Crosby. We like what we see. Drool over him now before he ends the season bruised and toothless.

• Happy birthday to our celluloid-loving faggy brothers and sisters in Seattle. The city's gay and lesbian film festival is 10 years old but thanks to makeup and good lighting doesn't look a day over 5.
