Truth Wins Out's New Commercial Action Packed!!

Wayne Besen and his homo homies over at Truth Wins Out have produced a new video aimed at exposing the ex-gay movement. While certainly it's intriguing to hear an ex-gayer talking about how he and his pious peers lurked about malls drooling over men, we're entirely distracted by the announcer's wavering, yet always sensational tone.

Is this the trailer to a horror movie, an action flick or a non-profit dedicated to exposing the controversial conversion therapists?? We're confused...

Wayne Besen Flips Scientific Switch on Albert Mohler

zygoteH.jpg
Baptist Reverend Albert Mohler Jr. made headlines when he advocated aborting would-be gay babies, writing:

If a biological basis is found, and if a prenatal test is then developed, and if a successful treatment to reverse the sexual orientation to heterosexual is ever developed, we would support its use as we should unapologetically support the use of any appropriate means to avoid sexual temptation and the inevitable effects of sin.
Not surprisingly, these alarming comments made international headlines and riled gay activists. Gay activists Wayne Besen, however, wonders about turning the tables and eliminating religious fundamentalists.

All Signs Say, "Gay!"

The Daily Show set their eyes on the troubling and controversial ex-gay therapy: the quackerific treatment aimed at "curing" homosexuality. And, in as part of their coverage, the producers invited Truth Wins Out executive director Wayne Besen to share his story.

In addition, they host Richard Cohen - the author of Coming Out Straight and a representative from the International Healing Center - and with insanely hilarious results. Hilarious because it's...well, funny. "Insanely" because this fool is nuts. Watch as he starts beating a pillow and screaming, "Dad! Where were you?" Wacko...

Ch-ch-check it out...

Urges Scientists To Rally Against "Pseudo-Science"

dobsonBsm.jpg
In an effort to curb conservative charlatans from usurping science for their dastardly ways, Truth Wins Out has established a new website, Respect My Research. The site comes after Focus on The Family leader James Dobson misrepresented scientific findings in his Time Magazine-published preaching against Mary Cheney's lesbianic pregnancy. Researchers cited by Dobson have since come out against his homophobic manipulations.

Truth Wins Out Plans Counter Movement

badeducation-1.jpg
We knew America's schools were suffering, but this shit's too much. An affluent Maryland school district has agreed to distribute flyers from an organization called Parents and Friend of Ex-Gays. Founded in 1998, PFOX describes itself as,

a nonprofit organization providing outreach, education, and public awareness in support of families and friends of homosexuals and the ex-gay community.
So, it's sort of like a club where openly gays and "reformed" gays can come together to celebrate...well, we're not sure: they're diametrically opposed views of homosexuality? The fact that one side thinks the other's going to rot in hell? We're really not sure...

A spokesman for the Montgomery County School, Brian Edwards, insists it's the schools policy to pass out flyers from all non-profits, no matter their scope.

The situation is brought to us by a Fourth Circuit of Appeals ruling declaring parts of the previous flyer policy unconstitutional. The Board of Education had little choice but to allow flyers to be distributed in the manner in which they decided.
Though many Board members apparently disapprove of PFOX's message, but must comply with their policies.

Which Truth Will Be The Victor?

BESEN.jpg
Ex-gay watchdog Truth Wins Out has filed a complaint of fraud again sworn enemy Americans for Truth: the "national organization devoted exclusively to exposing and countering the homosexual activist agenda". (Translation: religious right-wingers who believe homosexuality can be cured through prayer.)

TWO insists AFT's video, It's Not Gay fraudulently portrays ex-gay proselytizer Michael Johnston's conversion as a complete success. After "converting" in 1998, Johnston's became one of the shrillest voices in the controversial and equally cunty movement. His bubble burst in 2003 when two men claimed to have had unprotected sex with the HIV+ Johnston.

Various Celebrations of Myriad Types Spanning A Few Different Topics

Out Magazine's Jason Lamphier's penned a stellar review of 69 Love Songs: A Field Guide, L.B. Beghtol examination of Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt's three-disc epic. [Out]

• Homo-journo Wayne Besen's using his linguistic abilities to celebrate notable LGBT activist, such as Lane Hudson and Mike Rogers. Ass kissing never read so sweet. [Wayne Besen]

• While Besen's celebrating activism and outing, British actor John Barrowman is celebrating his gay-nups to long-time boyfriend, Scott Gill. [All Headline News]

• If there's a better way to commemorate James Brown's life than sticking his rotting corpse in the Apollo theater, we haven't heard it. [AP]

• Speaking of the dead: the family of Stuart Lubbock's (who died at British actor Michael Barrymore's house) family must be happy to hear that the investigation into his mysterious death's been reopened. It seems the coppers have some new leads. Nothing like a good cold case. [Pink News UK]

• What could be more exciting that news that nudie musical Naked Boys Singing has been optioned for the big screen? [Reuters]

• Certainly not the news that beleagured Turkish homo-journo Umut Güner's trial starts on Thursday. We're not really celebrating that. If he gets off, however, we'll totally party. [AKI]

• Another thing we're not celebrating? The fact that Rosie O'Donnell really can't leave this Donald Trump thing alone. She's again speaking gibberish in a blog entry about the equally childish blow-hard. [r blog]

wayne-moustache.jpg

Activist author blogger Wayne Besen has taken his longstanding quarrel with the ex-gay movement to new heights this week by starting Truth Wins Out, a new non-profit organization focused at countering right-wing, ex-gay propaganda and also "educating America About Gay Life." That seems ambitious to us, but it must be working because Mr. Besen has already been painted as a Jewish Hitler by some crackpot ex-gay "preacher" named DL Foster.

Despite the sound of progress, a part of us is sad that some day, thanks to the efforts of Mr. Besen and other activists, there will be no more crackpots trying to cure homosexuality by beating a pillow with a tennis racquet.
