The Democratic race for President has been filled with more drama than a Drag Race season finale, and it looks like Hillary Clinton just barely squeaked out a caucus win in Iowa.
The Human Rights Campaign made their choice, but the Sanders campaign cried foul. Even Queerty’s own writers are divided over Hillary and Bernie. So we leave the question to you, Queerty members: Are You Ready For Hillary Or Feeling The Bern?

I did not support Hillary in 2008 and will NOT support her in 2016 either. I would glady vote for any other qualified woman for President (such as Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar), but not HRC. I really don’t believe she really supports us, dhe just wants our votes, and I believe she will sell us out at the first opportunity just as her husband did–twice. I am supporting Bernie, and should he lose the nomination (as I expect) I will be (once again) voting Green Party (as I did in 2012). I firmly believe she cannot win a general election, and her squeaker last night only furthers my belief in this regard.

Seems to me we all need to seriously worry about which wack job the GOP nominates, too much power in one party is never a good thing. My only issue with Hillary is she is business as usual with no change. Bernie is exciting but do any of us really think congress or the senate would ever allow any of his ideas to see the light of day.

I find Bernie endearing but by almost all media and pundit accounts he can’t win in the general.
So I am supporting Hilary. Most agree she has the best chance of winning and there isn’t a single Republican I could vote for. There are not enough showers that could wash the stink away of me voting for any of the crop of current Republicans.

Bern is nothing more then a liberal bagger, making promises to his supporters he will never be able to deliver on, and if elected, 8 years from now they will be all butt hurt blaming the repubs for not getting everything they were promised. @DCguy: Absolutely. I agree. I will vote for Bernie in the primary but if Hillary gets the nod, I will (once again) hold my nose and vote.

I am feared that Hillary will get bogged down like Obama, but she will also sell out. The USA needs asocial revolution, but Bernie is too old and marinaded in old-time socialism, like most socialists his government will go to pieces in a matter of months. It’s a sad prospect, but Bernie would make a change…….

I’ll vote for whoever runs against either of them….

I don’t understand why people take Bernie Sanders seriously. He is an idealist, and he is not too realistic with his promises. I believe Hillary makes the best candidate out of anyone that I’ve ever seen. She’s the most qualified with her experience. @Alexander R. Rodriguez: Are you fu_king nuts? Supporting two anti-gay rights GOP, evangelical extremists on a gay site? Any gay/queer supporting these guys is a self loathing idiot. Cuban “anti-communist” is the most ridiculous old, stupid stuff around for 60 years. BS.
jimontp
@jheryn: @jheryn: @jheryn: Yeah, I get where you’re coming from. But the national polls show Sanders beating GOP candidates by more than Hillary does. Either one of them is going to face millions of dollars in ads by the Koch brothers. Sanders has the guts to call them out, Hillary would face all that BS about emails, Benghazi, and huge “speaking fees” from Wall Street. If you really think the gross income inequality in this country distorts elections, Sanders is so much better. But in the end, I will vote for the Democrat, and any voter who thinks it would be better to choose a more left-wing/ green candidate ought to see what that gave us in 2000. The Texas idiot who brought us a needless, stupid war in Iraq and an epic economic recession.

Take some of Bern’s ‘fire’ and put it in Hillary’s body and you’d have the ultimate candidate.
I’m fine with either… however I feel Hillary would stand a better shot in the general.
Either would be leagues above the repugnant offering the neanderthals on the right have up at bat.

I like the both but I think Sanders is too left of center to win over the mainstream undecided and independent voters.

Hillary needs to be in prison and Bernie is a wonderful wonderful wonderful man, has been on our side for over 40 years, this man actually has morals unlike Hillary,

Bernie Sanders is who Hilary Clinton would like to be perceived as. She never can be. She is the establishment candidate of choice and truly networked into the banks and big money. Bernie Sanders has always stood for civil rights, clear back to the ’70s. He is truly a man of and for the people. I’m Sanders all the way.

I think the 2016 American election really has to do with the Liberal Progressive cause; either to want a President who truly progressive, and a President who isn’t. A President who will be taking the United States to more Wars, covert operations, and authorize more Guantanamo style dungeons worldwide.
Let’s not forget the black hole known as the Pentagon military budget that keeps on rising and rising; support for your rigged/unsafe financial system – Your country is a kleptocracy sadly.

There’s a lot of criticism that many of his goals aren’t achievable. Well, that’s what we thought when we elected Obama and look what he’s done! If you don’t aim high, then why aim at all? #feelingthebern Respectfully, thoughtfully, and fully aware that it will take the political revolution he’s talking about, from the top of the Democratic ticket all the way downballot to the local races, in order to enact the change he’s talking about. And that our alternative to that kind of radical, hopeful thinking, is to accept the continued march toward oligarchy and a level of income and wealth inequality that is unsustainable in a democracy.

Prefer #TheBern but I’ll take Billary #1stWomanPrez if it comes down to her and any of the things likely to gain the Republican nomination.

I’m pro-Bernie Sanders but I’m a non-citizen. As an outsider, either Bernie or Hillary will be fine. I understand some of the concerns of some commenters here that they fear the GOP will get in. I see this Presidential Election a bit like Germany in the Great Depression. There is a hunger in the electorate for anti-establishment candidates like Bernie and Trump – both at extremes of the political spectrum. God help us, if the extreme Right gets in.

@Spike: Let’s not forget breaking up the big banks, as if it’s even possible. Plus, it took Obama years to manage to get his healthcare law passed and it’s STILL being fought against. Bernie thinks he’ll be able to give everyone free health care and education in eight years? Not to mention he has zero foreign policy experience. Everyone talks about how Hillary is just pandering to minorities, but no one makes mention of the fact that Bernie is pandering to millennials. All he talks about is the middle class, income equality, raising minimum wage, yada yada yada. He doesn’t even mention national security. He’s got a reputation for being an impatient hot head, yet he thinks he’ll be able to work with republicans? At least Hillary is a proven diplomat with experience in every facet of government.

Although my heart sides with Bernie on many issues, I want to WIN the general election and I feel that Hillary is our best chance. So, I’m voting Hillary! Plus, I feel like Hillary has the strength, intelligence and badassery to get shit done in the White House.
Troy Eleder
Bernie is of the people, for the people, and by the people. Hillary is of the corporations, for the billionaires, and by the Wall Street. Choose wisely.
Michael Godfrey
Bernie all the way.
Realitycheck
@Troy Eleder: Troy, Bernie alone cannot do anything, and Bernie has already admitted he doesn’t have the support in congress to do any of the things he promised, so exactly what are you going to gain by voting for a lame duck president?
More importantly, he is a self professed leftist and Bernie already said he will raise taxes.
These two are the biggest election killers, period, Sanders doesn’t have a chance to be the next president in the general elections.
Hillary can make deals and has lots of experience, and that is the reality of politics in a democratic country, NO ONE, NOT EVEN SANDER walks in and tell people what to do, everything is done by making deals, a president is not a king with absolute power.
So ask yourself a simple question, do you want an anti gay, pro uber christian conservative president that will reverse any gain made by the LGTB community?
OR do you want a president that will keep on pushing forward for gay rights?
By voting for Sander you will elect a Republican President.
Last, people with HIV need research, discoveries, new drugs and hopefully a cure,
if Bernie Sanders kills insurance companies and moves everyone to Medicare you can kiss new discoveries good bye, why? Because money is the biggest motivator, no profit no motivation to make new discoveries.
Young voters like Sanders because they lack experience and believe all that Sanders says, in reality Sanders is behaving like a south american extreme politician promising everything to everyone to get a vote.
TwinPeaker
Hillary Clinton all the way! Bernie has some good ideas, but does anyone seriously think he could beat the GOP? I don’t think so! Proven track record and electability for me thank you.

witwoud
I will support whichever Dem gets the nomination, but I will be voting for Bernie in the primary. While I no more believe Sanders is capable of delivering everything he promises than Hillary can with her pandering, I like his vision of dragging the US into the 21st century. I live in Chicago where we have one of the highest sales tax in the country. We are the third largest city in the USA, but you couldn’t tell it by our mass transit. Or our public schools. Or our roads. If we are going to be taxed like our brothers and sisters in Scandinavia and the UK…I want the benefits. I think Bernie makes a valid point for socializing more programs. Of course Hillary doesn’t. Even though she told Wall Street to “cut it out”, her relationship and history with them tells a different story.
And regarding equality…unlike Hillary, Bernie didn’t need decades to “evolve. He’s always had our backs.

It’s complicated. I despise shameless opportunism of Hillary Clinton, and I have little doubt that’s she’s more in-bed with Wall Street than any of the current bunch of Republicans, including Trump (who most Wall Street pros dismiss as a financial hack).
In terms of domestic policy I stand toe-to-toe with Bernie, however the medico-insurance-phrama complex is so deeply entrenched that it would take a violent revolution the bring about a single payer system. So I think Sanders is being unrealistic.
Then of course there’s foreign policy. I question the sophistication of Bernie’s understanding of the issues. The last thing we need in the Oval Office is a Woodrow Wilson naif. What we do need is someone who will help disengage us.
Interestingly, I think Sanders, a completely secular Jew, is far less likely to allow the Israeli lobby to dictate US Mid-East policy than Clinton.
ammaschi
As much as I respect, admire and in many ways am proud of Hillary, it’s pretty obvious that she’s kinda a sellout. For most of my adult life she been on about marriage between one man and one woman till two years ago. Her husband introduced some of the worst LGBT legislation in modern history. Bernie = No more establishment politics. No more government corruption. The choice should be clear. Either we take back the government from the 1% now or at some other less fortunate time in the future.
We should never underestimate who we are up against. The 1% stands to lose billions and control the media and have spun much of what folks believe and they will not go down without a fight. Hillary represents the 1%. Bernie represents what democracy once was for the people, us.
Are we going to allow the corporations to stay in control of us and our country? Or will we save our democratic system and make a better world for us and future generations?
ammaschi
A vote for Hillary is a vote for keeping corruption in government. Plain and simple.

Before you believe that both candidates are equal, not that in 2013 Hillary said that she still supports “states rights” and will propose a Supreme Court nominee who feels the same. Big deal! Yes it is a big deal.
States rights support in the Supreme Court makes marriage equality moot on the federal level. If you live in a red state, federal marriage recognition would be over-ridden by states rights and your marriage (mine at least) would be non-recognized both in the state and federally. Red states often also reject marriage between the races (still on the books in Alabama).
Hillary is a stealth Republican. Look at her ACTUAL policies.

Could your election please take longer.

After reading many of these comments, I really enjoy seeing Democrats squabble over which elderly Soci@list they loathe the least. Please pass the popcorn.
1EqualityUSA
Hillary, because she won’t have to take Middle East 101 for 6 months, while the Republican obstructionists sabotage the Dems every endeavor.
LAman
@Realitycheck: Thank you! This is how I feel. Not sure about the health insurance side of things, but I agree, we need to be realistic. Bernie has great intentions, but it doesn’t look like he can actually change much where as Hillary has the experience and connections to make a difference. We need to be smart about this, and I enjoy seeing comments like yours.
Alistair Wiseman
@1EqualityUSA:
Yes, because Hillary’s meddling in the Middle East has been such an overwhelming success!!!
Alistair Wiseman
@Ronbo:
I really enjoyed your youtube clip, however, it must have been achieved by special effects as Democrats are routinely telling us voter fraud doesn’t exist.
1EqualityUSA
Alistair, You know deep down in your heart of hearts that the GOP is going obsolete. Republicans are a nightmare on the world stage and domestically. How you could be gay (bullshit) and vote for any one of these creeps is beyond me. You must feel that the very important and influential Queerty site is a threat to your sleaze-bag message, because you sure are here a lot, pushing your message over and over and over again. The GOP is going down, and you are oblivious, even as the salt water is swirling around your edematous ankles. Scalia is proud to have you as a son.
o.codone
Hillary? Seriously? She is in the verge of indictment, whether you think she deserves it or not. Then she will back out of the race and receive a presidential pardon (wait, is that jack azz actually the president?). Enter Biden. His running mate? You guessed it. Obama. You just can’t kill a bad thing. The third term is upon us. And maybe the fourth.
