Rachel Maddow Getting MSNBC Slot
World Rejoices!

Hooray for MSNBC's Rachel Maddow!

The rock star lesbian journalist, whom we interviewed earlier this year, will soon be slipping into Dan Abrams' primetime:

The moves, which were confirmed by MSNBC executives Tuesday, are expected to be finalized by Wednesday, with Mr. Abrams’s last program on Thursday. After MSNBC’s extensive coverage of the two political conventions during the next two weeks, Ms. Maddow will begin her program on Sept. 8.

MSNBC has been known to be seeking a way to capitalize to a greater degree on Mr. Olbermann’s popularity. A program hosted by Ms. Maddow will almost certainly be a closer ideological fit with Mr. Olbermann’s.

[MSNBC president Phil] Griffin said of the selection of Ms. Maddow, “This just completes our prime-time lineup. Our lineup makes sense now.”

And it pleases us to no end! Maddow's our number one televised lesbian crush.

As for Abrams, don't worry about him - he's going back to his general manager gig.

Will she ignore Cynthia McKinney, Green Party candidate for President and the only gay platform inclusive candidate supporting Gay Marriage?

For someone who loves Rachel this is happy enough, but the fact that Dan Abrahms works my last nerve makes me ecstatic about this news!

Uggh. She is a hack from Air America whose ego is larger than the selection of evening dresses in her closet.

Karl,
She strikes me as the kind of girl who has NO evening dresses; so I guess you meant she has NO ego.

Brava, Rachel!!!

"Uggh. She is a hack from Air America whose ego is larger than the selection of evening dresses in her closet."

Well than her ego must be incredibly small. Do you even know Rachel Maddow? She has to be the most butch lesbian celebrity since k.d. lang. I doubt she has a skirt in her whole wardrobe.

I love Keith but I think he can be pretty black and white sometimes. But now we have someone who has the capacity to comprehend shades of gray. In the kindest and most factually based manner she will prove the conservatives wrong. So I have to do my lesbo cheer: Go Rachel, Go Rachel, Go!!!

This is awesome news. Rachel Maddow is so deserving of this TV show and I can't wait to watch it!

It's a shame about Dan Abrams, though, I really liked how he ridiculed the right wing idiots that come on his show.

Love Maddow! As a Gay man I always thought of her as a very attractive lesbian. Of course I tend to find attractiveness in people's personalities most of the time. So she wins on both counts. She's spunky!!!!!

The only thing that makes this woman even remotely watchable is that she'll follow the "Jump the Shark" rantings of Keith Olbermann.

This is great news - now this frees up TWO WHOLE HOURS of NOT having to listen to their left wing diatribes on a nightly basis.

Dan Abrams show was not up to par, but he's a hell of a lot easier on the eyes (and ears) than either Olbermann or Maddow. Now MSNBC can be proud that their entire nightly line up is skewed as far left extreme as FOX is to the right.

Their new tag line should be "From Matthews to Maddow - the craziest sons-of-bitches on nightly TV"

As much as I like Keith, I was always happy when I saw her fill in for him. I had a big crush on her before I had confirmation she's gay. <3. This is great news and I can't think of anyone who deserves it more. Go Rachel! Anybody know if she's single?

While I'm happy we've got a kick-ass lesbian in a high profile news spot, I have to agree with some of Joeb1212's sentiments. America's "24 hour news networks" are actually opinion networks. If anyone thinks they are getting fair balanced news from MSNBC they are nuts. Olbermann's voice and pandering is just as annoying as that SOB O'Reilly.

I'm a raging liberal but I also value credibility and truth that is not twisted either left or right. If you want excellent reporting switch to PBS. CNN, MSNBC and FOX all should be ashamed for what they've done to journalism.

Good…MSNBC now has officially made it clear that it intends to provide no semblance of political diversity in its programming. From Olbermann to Maddow. Wow…what a leap.

"MSNBC now has officially made it clear that it intends to provide no semblance of political diversity in its programming."

Is it just me or doesn't MSNBC have Joe Scarborough and everything?
They now have 2 liberal shows (the only liberal shows on any mainstream media network)
And people are complaining that MSNBC has no political diversity.
I find that appalling.
Look around at the rest of the news stations.
I believe MSNBC has the most 'political diversity' of any of the real mainstream media networks.
So stop your complaining.
Liberals deserve a spot on TV, they only have 2 news shows that even show their side of the story completely, and one of them won't even be on the air for another two weeks.
Be quiet about the liberal media.
Be quiet about MSNBC.
If you're so mad about having no 'political diversity' then just go turn on Fox or something.

KC -

Your response is so repugnant - right up to your "Be Quiet" repetition, I hardly know where to begin. But I'll try…and do it in a manner that shows more respect for you than you afforded me in your obnoxious post.

MSNBC: Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, and David Gregory. True, they have Joe Scarborough, who is a moderate Republican. There you have it. If that's political diversity to you, your welcome to it.

The networks themselves are relentlessly liberal…and include reporters that are almost uniformly Democrats. This has been covered time and time again…I am sorry if it doesn't sink in for some people who let their partisanship cloud their objectivity. I am forever baffled by those who, because they sympathize with someone's politics and identify with their positions, can not be objective or honest when it comes to assessing a bias issue. It's a shame, really, and that's why I identify with really no party at all. It leaves me open to be objective about these things, rather than letting my emotions take over my ability to call things like I see them.

The vast majorty of the daily newspapers are liberal…starting from the New York Times, to USA Today (which even hired Michael Moore as a political reporter at one point) to others. I see the Washington Post, for example, as more evenhanded…though it certainly skews left. So that's another distortion in your post, KC.

For the record, Fox News has Greta Van Susteren. She's a liberal. The rest are mainly conservatives. I don't see that as political diversity -and it's clear you don't either. So why on Earth are you telling me that it IS diversity when it's in the reverse at MSNBC (one Republican, the rest are liberals).

Stop and think about that before telling me to be quiet about anything.

I understand why you can say that most reporters are Democrat, because you're right about that.
There are many reporters who do tend to lean toward the left.

But the only proof I think I really need that there is a conservative bias on TV in this country is that everyone talks about Reverend Wright but nobody talks about McCain's Pakistan/Iraq border mishap, and nobody talks about how McCain got his facts on the surge wrong, and nobody talks about any of McCain's flipflops, and when Obama makes a tiny mistake (like, 'refining his policies' on Iraq) that's the only thing that gets talked about.
McCain is getting such a free ride in this election and if you thought about that and then watched TV, you would notice that if Obama made even one of the mistakes that McCain did, then Obama would be out of the race already.
But no.
McCain can say that his wife should do a topless beauty contest and the world doesn't even know or care.
If that's not conservative media right there then I really don't know what is.

A great move by MSNBC to get a political genius to prime time slot. Rachael Maddow is so well versed on all spectrum of the political field. She's a joy to listen to when making political comments. I'm now a permanent MSNBC fan!

Is she even a legitamate reporter? Isn't she more of a comentator. What does she claim to be does anyone know. There is no way she could consider herself to be a reporter in a true and authentic sense of the word. You know like it was intended to be. I believe we should hold our newspapers responsible and not allow them to dictate to us the news.!
