OMG I am so happy America’s Iraq War, of which the mission was accomplished in 2003, is over! We’re done fighting with … um … who was it we were after over there? My brain hurts trying to think back so far.

Obama is lying through his teeth while giving another tongue bath to the military and the oil companies.
Roughly 50,000 US troops and about the same number of US and US paid mercenaries remain. http://rt.com/Politics/2010-02-04/contractors-us-afghanistan-iraq.html
US troops still kill civilians and the mercenaries are much, much worse. They gun down civilians at will and are savagely hated by Iraqis. http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2004-03-31-casualties_x.htm.
The huge US presence in Iraq is there to try to maintain oil hegemony, although the Chinese are giving the US a run for the money. They’re also back up for the US promoted effort to break Iraqi unions which constitute the best hope of Iraqis for tossing Obama and the American occupiers out on their ass just as the Vietnamese did to Nixon 35 years ago.

I don’t think we should have been in Iraq to begin with, but I’m glad we stuck it out. Iraqis today have a much better life than they did under Saddam. Hopefully we won’t bail on the Afghans (again) either.

^^^^^
After US militarists are driven out of Iraq and Afghanistan, just as they were driven out of Vietnam, you can ask them how much they enjoyed being the objects of genocide and mass murder.
Baxter
@Bill Perdue: The only genocide and mass murder in Iraq was perpetrated by Saddam Hussein. See: Operation Anfal, where thousands of Kurds were massacred. See: Halabja, where poison gas was used to wipe out an entire town. See: the 1991 uprisings, where Saddam’s government specifically targeted and killed thousands of Kurdish and Shi’ite civilians.
Obviously Iraq isn’t the safest place in the world and there have been some incidents of US troops and contractors killing civilians, but at least the Iraqi people no longer have to worry about being murdered by their own government. You’d have to be crazy to suggest that the Iraqi people would rather be living under Saddam again.
Bill Perdue
That was the same BS that the Clintons and Bush told 1n 1999 and 2003.
They were lies then and they’re lies now.
Baxter
@Bill Perdue: Please remove the tinfoil hat.
Chris
@Bill Perdue: eerrr you do realise that you still have around 50 thousand troops in germany and japan left over from world war II right? and about 20 thousand in south Korea….the US military really took the term ‘perma-vactioners’ to heart.
Bill Perdue
Baxter – and the worst lie is the racist assumption that you, the Clintons and Bush have that says that what goes on Iraq is any of our business.

Chris – Of course, all US military forces, including naval and air fleets, mercenary armies and CIA kidnap-murder-torture forces should be immediately and permanently withdrawn form the 750 plus US bases that ring the globe.
The empire builder from the looter class are killing us with their incessant wars for oil and other resources.

Watch out! Rachels takin’ us down the memory hole! hahaha (:
