Did Clay Aiken divulge more than he planned in an interview with US?

People don’t want to have [my sexuality] pushed, people who are living in Omaha or in Charlotte or wherever. They don’t want stuff like that pushed in their face. I don’t think that’s necessary and that’s also not what I’m here for.

This begs the question, of course, why are you here, Clay Aiken?

I was going to make a bitchy comment, but I can't…he must be such a miserable person that I find him sad rather than funny.

He is here because he was "phoned in" by people who have no taste in music or what they watch on TV.

Just my humble opinion. Flame away.

LEAVE Clay ALONE!!! He's like a modern day Liberace. He's right - his fans in Elks Ass Montana don't care what he does in the bedroom, just so long as he satisfies their need for bad taste in music.

I think you guys should actually listen to the interview he did with Access Hollywood /Billy Bush.. It's completely different from this ( and it's not US this clip comes from it's Access Hollywood) This spin on this is totally different from what he said on the interview.

Why is it that homosexuality is always designated as a bedroom act (what about love)? Is heterosexuality indefinitably associated with the bedroom? I don't know, if it doesn't matter to housewives in Bumblefuck, North Dakota what Aiken's sexual orientation is, then why is he so afraid to disclose it? I'm not about forcefully outting anybody, but c'mon, there comes a time when you just have to come out, it's the only way things are ever going to change.

Do we really want him to come out on our team?

He won't come out because many of his most ardent fans would freak out and dump him in a heartbeat if he did. Even some that aren't really homophobic have gotten so used to defending his straightness to people they know that they would (quite rightly) feel used and stupid if he actually came out. He has a new album coming out in a week or two which, unlike the piece of crap he put out two years ago, sounds really good from the snippets I've heard (yeah, I know, I'm the only fan here, feel free to insult my musical taste), and if it does widen his fanbase to include more people who really don't give a fuck if he's gay or straight, maybe he'll feel more able to confirm what everyone except (many of) his fans already knows. But, honestly, I think he gets off on all the speculation.

FWIW Christopher, I don't think he's at all miserable right now, I think he's well aware who he is, and I think it's purely a business decision to not come out. If all his fans were blue state lesbians like me he'd have been out years ago.

Of course you do. Look at the hard on you're sporting every time his name is mentioned.

Being openly gay is not shoving anything in anyone's face any more than being openly straight. It is your right.

Alexa, if you believe you can find happiness while being dishonest with who you are by hiding and making excuses about what is really private and what is public, them more power to you. I know I couldn't live that way, mainly because when I open my mouth, a purse falls out anyway…sorta like Clay, actually!

Christopher, I don't disagree that he'd be happier if he came out, every closeted celebrity I've read about says they are happier after they come out, even if it wasn't voluntary. It's not like he's fooling anyone apart from some of his fans anyway, or even really trying to hide or fake anything (doesn't anyone give him credit for not claiming he's straight and not bearding?). I just think he's weighed his options and decided that, right now, he's better off not talking about it. It seems pretty smart to me in some ways, he's all over the internet today, ten days before his new CD is released.

Christopher, there's a whole lot of perfectly happy people who never came out, and never will, because they are not gay. All the lies and stalkers in the world cannot change the person's real sexual orientation. Neither can fag hags like Alexa, no matter how much fan fiction they post on gossip sites, and how many rainbow boas they wear to his concerts.

Cue the crazy Claymates! Carol, that man is gayer than a rhinestone-studded butt plug buried in Liberace's tomb. Trust. You need to accept that and move on with your life, perhaps with a crush on Zac Efron. Oh wait…

WTF do I need to move on for? Clay's sexuality has no effect on his music or acting. He is out there happily living his life, while you're desperately clinging to lies and delusions instead of accepting the fact that he will never be on your team.

Carol, Clay told the fans he doesn't need defending and to stop doing it, so if you are really a fan maybe you should respect his wishes and fuck off. But thanks for proving my point, sweetheart.

Still in denial? Sorry, it takes more than one pathologically obsessed stalker who has no proof whatsoever that his imaginary encounter with Clay has ever happened, and a few gossipmongers who make up lies and scream "Gay, gay, gay!" at nearly every celebrity with a penis.

You'll have to show me a real evidence that Clay is not who he says he is, and so far, no one has been able to do that.

Does anybody listen to these American Idol wannabes anymore? Jeez, the most mediocre musical performers in the world, prefabricated for the Britney/Lindsay tabloid world. I cannot think of any man I would NOT like to come out as gay than Clay Aiken, except maybe Tom Cruise. Who cares about this rancid piece of media meat?

Alexa: You have lousy taste in music. There, happy!

Gregg: Tons of hot guys have come out in recent years, starting waaaaay back w/bodybuilder Bob Paris, swimmer Greg Luganis, basketball player Don Amaeche, football player Ruffalo Tuffalo (I know I'm botching some of the names). Open your eyes before you open your mouth.

So weird. I don't know why the hate on Clay. It's the like the hate on Disco back in the day. Rock v. Disco.

Who cares if he's out or not. If you don't like his music then stay away and don't bother commenting on it. That is if you even listened to his music.

I am a fan.

His first cd was decent, not great. Second cd sucked immensely. I want him to do a pop album but it looks like he's dialed in to that AOR/Light music crowd. So, I'm not such a fan anymore until he comes out with good music.

Oh and is he cute? Hells no. But that's not why I like/dislike him. I think he has a really powerful voice.

And shame on Queerty for not checking your sources, if the quote was taken out of context.

"Clay’s sexuality has no effect on his music "

Carol you are so wrong. I haven't heard the new one yet but that last CD took well known classics and butchered them simply because he was totally unconvincing singing love songs. Perhaps if he lived a more authentic life he would develop the ability to sing about love in a manner that would tell the listener that he knows whereof he sings.

And did you see his spot on Idol this week from Broadway? How much queerer can he get?

Bullshit. He has no trouble convincing people who accept him the way he is, and don't let their view of him be distorted by the militant gay agenda. Besides, the last time I checked, both straight and gay people could fall in love, so WTF does one's sexuality have to do with interpreting love songs, anyway?

I was out for twenty years. It did dick for me. All you do is meet people who immediately install an equally brainless pro-gay stereotype. People who say "I just love Will & Grace," "What's your favorite musical?" Uh, thanks for the interest, I don't watch Will & Grace and I don't like musicals. Hooray, a different way to be a non-person!

I release the information now at my own dicretion.
