Real Housewives Tell America: Fear Nip Slips, Not Gay Marriage

When it doubt, always take advice from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, particularly on matters of importance like homosexual marriage. Curiously missing from this video message: Danielle Staub, the show’s only semi-lesbian and, she insists, a gay rights advocate who doesn’t mind when her friends say “faggot.”

See? It’s not so hard to stand up for something important. If they can do it, so can the rest of the housewives in the country.

I’m a new converted fan. Good job ladies for using your fame and voice for a POSITIVE cause…that truly should be what stardom and exposure is all about and I thank you for taking the time to champion a cause that means so very much to millions out there.
      Good luck to you all!

I’m with @IonMusic. These women reach a wide demographic that needs to know that pianos won’t fall on their heads if they support a worthy cause and take a stand.

I always thought of the housewives as campy fun. Glad to see they’ve joined the right camp.

It’s good to see some reality coming from reality TV stars. And nice to see that they’re evolved past homophobia. Let’s see if the housewives in other cities are this brave.

Elaine Stritch has a good bit about drinking with Judy Garland until the sun came up, and Judy finally stood up and said,”Elaine, I never thought I’d say this, but good night!”

Well, I never thought I’d say this regarding the housewives of New Jersey, but thank you.

I am so sick of these female publicity skunks. Go away, girls. We do NOT need your support. We can fend for ourselves. We don’t need your sympathy nor your attention-seeking stunts that have more to do with promoting yourselves than with GLBT rights. Fuck off, basically.

@jason: Sure, Jason – we’ve done such a good job of getting marriage equality ourselves that we can just curse public figures who sticks their necks out to offer support.

And in this country, unfortunately, anyone who supports this cause isn’t looking for publicity — they’re actually risking the support of their base in an effort to enlighten them. Don’t curse. Tip your hat and move on.

I’ve worked on reality programming and I know that the small bit that makes it to the screen is not the whole story. These ladies are great at their job and I thank them for stepping out to support a cause that reality program watchers probably don’t think enough about. Good going.

@Kookie: nice point. I sure couldn’t do what these women do — putting my whole life on television. At first I thought, what’d they have to lose by coming out for gay marriage? Then I thought about it and realized: uh, they have a lot to lose, ie everything. So thanks, RHONJ, for being brave.

Perfect group of people to show that we can all overcome differences and support a cause that’s based on love.
