Regent’s Paul Colichman Shoves Gay Website Under His Porn Umbrella

gaywiredunizpped

With all the mergers and acquisitions by Paul Colichman’s Regent Media — snapping up PlanetOut’s Out and The Advocate, merging them with part of Regent to create Here Media — it’s easy to forget he runs a gay website! Edited by Sean Carnage, GayWired.com is a mix of news and entertainment and a site that, in an irate phone call with this website, magazine-hating Colichman insisted was larger than Queerty (it isn’t). Except the digital property isn’t as close to Colichman’s heart as we once thought, since he just offhanded it to Unzipped Media, the erotic bastard child of since-delisted PlanetOut that Colichman never felt comfortable owning. (Unzipped Media, after all, publishes such general interest titles as Freshmen and Beau Breedlove-covering Unzipped.) Coilchman’s move puts GayWired.com under the helm of Unzipped publisher Dustin Tyner — and, well, a porn franchise. The news was announced in a press release from Regent Media; Regent and Colichman were not mentioned once.
