Regis Philbin, the 79-year-old sidekick to that perky blonde, announced at the start of today’s LIVE! with Regis & Kelly that he’ll be leaving the show sometime this summer.

OK, I am SO HOPING that mah boo, Anderson Cooper, takes over the reins. Have you seen episodes when he’s subbing for Regis? The chemistry between Kelly (who loves to flirt with him) and Anderson is awesome. The straight man (not in sexuality terms) and the funny lady…works for me.

I can just drool, sigh and be amused all at once. I can’t help it–I just ADORE him.
