Reiteration.

California governor and former actor Arnold Schwarzenegger reiterated his support of gay marriage on yesterday's Meet The Press: "I personally believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. But at the same time I think that my, you know, belief, I don't want to force on anyone else, so I think we should stay with the decision of the Supreme Court and move forward. There are so many other more important issues that we have to address in California. So I think to spend any time on this initiative I think is a waste of time." [MSNBC via Joe.My.God]

He gives a better soundbite than Obama on the issue.

My grandmother gives a better sound bite too, but I can't vote for her for president either.

You call that support? That was, at best, resignation not to stand in the way of the rule of law and human dignity. But let me stress, he still disagrees with the idea of gay marriage. That alone is enough fodder for the bigots.

Let me pose a hypothetical parallel. Imagine the outrage if he said, "I personally believe that marriage should be between two people of the same race. But at the same time I think that my, you know, belief, I don’t want to force on anyone else, so I think we should stay with the decision of the Supreme Court and move forward." Nobody would call that support for equal rights.

Joel seems to hit the nail on the head….

And his soundbite is sounds exactly the same as Obama. Which is not great, but better than McCain.

Schwarzen-stupid vetoed gay marriage legislation sponsored by State Senator Mark Leno and approved by the state legislature TWICE!

It's really weird that in a state where essentially all three branches of the government, the governor, supreme court and legislature support marriage equality, it might be overturned

Sorry, I have Schwarzenegger talk in his native tongue, which happens also to be mine, and I must say he sounds as thick as two planks (at least)! God help California…
