Remember When Tracy Morgan Told People NOT To Stab Gay Kids?

Everyone hates Tracy Morgan’s apology for his anti-gay rant in which he said that he’d stab his gay son if he ever whined about getting bullied. But once upon a time Morgan made an anti-bullying PSA for NBC which presumable included gay kids and chubby black kids with speech impediments. So we guess all those commenters who wanted Morgan to make an It Gets Better video can strike that one off their lists.

I think people need to get over what he said.It was a joke.People laugh when the joke is about others but can’t when it’s about them. He’s right about one thing kids that are bullied need to stop being pussies and stand up for themselves.

What, you guys figured Tracy Morgan was pro-gay? Seriously?!? Have none of you ever SEEN the man? Jesus Christ, he wears his homophobia on his sleeve, but I guess because he’s a typical liberal, you assumed he was on your side. Live and learn, people, live and learn.

Tracy Morgan has three boys, this is what he said last Friday to a packed TN audience..“ If my son told me he was gay (high pitched voice), I would take a knife and stab him in the chest” EVERYONE (Tina Fey-NBC-Comedians-Athletes…etc) needs to read and take action against the vicious hate that Mr. Tracy Morgan (30 Rock- SNL) said in his (rally for violence against the LGBT community- FOX can take a day off) questionable comedy act on June 3, 2011…NO NO NO apology accepted…20 yrs in entertainment working side by side with many gay parents and people with gay children and potraying us in offensive skits on SNL… NO surprise you would sperminate your flock of uneducated bible belt bullies in TN of all places ( Where two bills recently passed 1) you can be fired from your job for being gay 2) you cant use the word gay in schools….look it up) I can take a joke- Im ALL for free speech- not hate speech…Now it’s time for the gay community and supporters of equal rights for ALL to raise your voices and be heard…..

We as a community pushing equal rights for ALL need to make our voices heard NOW and encourage celebrities and politicians through TWITTER- FACEBOOK- EMAIL-…ETC. that they need to speak up when its not convenient to advance their careers…..You accept our hard earned money and go to our award shows and preach tolerance and standing up to bullies….Time to STAND UNITED in the fight for Equal Rights…. Tina Fey and 30 rock have received many awards from GLAAD….NO MORE LIP SERVICE- ACTION NOW…You use free speech Mr. Morgan as a front to spew hate…. Now its time to pay the piper…..I speak up for the thousands of GLBT kids who have no voice….. kids that don’t even have parents that love them enough to let them live at home….. church leaders telling 8 yr old kids they’re going to hell to their face…When family, friends, church leaders and your community abandons you all based on nothing you can control because your same sex attraction is natural, SUICIDE MIGHT SEEM LIKE THE ONLY OPTION….ITS NOT KIDS….IT GETS BETTER…IT IS BETTER…. WORDS HURT….. WORDS KILL !!!!!!

Tina Fey your half as@ed apology sucked… Tina fey says “ Tracy is to sleepy to cause anyone harm” What does that mean Tina? Mr. Morgan is FINISHED in my book. Don’t go down with the ship Tina. You hired Tracy knowing that his stand up is very homophobic. Now pay the price. This is the core of Tracy’s beliefs…..Believe what you want Tracy…. Say what you want Tracy….. Now pay the f@@king price you piece of sh@t….You would think growing up being black you might be a more thoughtful person when it comes to the LGBT issues and working with them for over 20 Years…. WRONG……TIME TO HOLD OUR POLITICIANS AND CELEBRITIES ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE THINGS THEY SAY OR DON’T SAY IN REGARDS TO LGBT ISSUES FROM NOW ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s one thing to be joking, it’s another to take a joke in a violent direction. It wasn’t just a joke about telling your kid to toughen up, it was about telling your kid if you are different I will kill you. I was bullied as a kid, you can’t just stand up for yourself when it’s you against four or five other students. It’s hard to be the victim of violence, and anyone that says “kids that are bullied need to stop being pussies and stand up for themselves.” Has never been a victim. You have no idea what you’re talking about Ricky.

There may have been a time when this could have been dismissed as bad humor by an idiot, but that ship has long sailed. In today’s world; teen-suicides, bullying, removing rights at a ballot box, ‘don’t say gay’ etc … Ya know, it just no longer flies.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s over for me and Tracy Morgan. I understand that lots of people work on 30 Rock, that don’t share his views, but as long as he’s on (my fave) show, I really don’t see myself tuning in. It’s just how it is.

Commenters above are correct; the people with access to a mic need to call-him-out when the opportunity presents itself, and then sweep his career into the dustbin and move on.

Not accepted, and I don’t accept the “lighten up it’s a joke” nonsense either. It was a hateful ramble, and Mr Jordan needs to be held accountable. The statements from NBC and Fey are nice, but it looks to me like this irrational, irresponsible, violent rant is being tolerated because there are no consequences. When Michael (Kramer) Richards went on a racist rant in 2006 in a comedy club, it was headline news and has utterly disappeared from public view. I suspect Tracy Morgan will be right back on “30 Rock” in the fall, doing just fine. After all, he was only being viciously awful toward the gays.

@ewe: This falls under the rubric of “communicating threats”. Therefore, it is not free speech. Every day that this piece of breeder shit continues to walk free, justice has failed.

@Richard Head:They figure the situation is complicated, and that, in all the attempts to use this situation (which is a bad one on its own terms) the people using it don’t care that its complicated. I don’t have a problem saying the skit was homophobic (again from the limited knowledge I have of the act since I didn’t see it, and nor did you). But, there is a difference between saying that and making this into simply people

@Queer Supremacist: I really hate when people know nothing about the law online just go on and on about something they know nothing about. First up this is not really a free speech issue since its not a government action. Second, even if it was, the exception you are talking about is inapplicable because the situation in which you are describing is where words take on the form of action such as yelling fire in a crowded theater. The threat, if you want to call comic act that, must be immediate as in he’s yelling to people stab the guy right next to you, stab the guy right next to you. Not if someday I find out my kid is gay… Why people need to make a bad situation worse just to reinforce their craziness I will never know.

I don’t care about his apology. The thing is, this was no joke. Violence against a marginalized group of people who are still KILLED FOR WHO WE ARE is NEVER a joke. Never. And the suggestion of killing his own son? Sickening.

Mr. Morgan needs to go away. If Tina Fey, NBC, and 30 Rock keep him….well then I just don’t know what to say. Will make me seriously question their morals, values, and priorities.

Tracy Morgan is a marginally talented, comedic hack. He’s extremely lucky he has gotten as far as he has attaching himself to a TV program starring Tina Fey.

My prediction is, a decade from now, he will be working at a Burger King, weigh 350lbs., and and signing autographs for $5 a piece.

He wasn’t joking although he was giving a comic performance. He was actually in the middle of a debate on CNN on the subject. Or so he thought. I could tell he thought that because of his body language, and secretly, I am a little bit psychic. You could clearly see it. I know this to be true because that’s what I believe. And what I believe is true regardless of the surrounding facts of the situation or any thing that’s contra to my position that you may present in this article or later articles. its true because I believe its true.

The fact is, the gay community has been convinced that we shouldn’t offend people by defending ourselves. That OTHER communities can take offense to violent imagery and threats but that we need to suck it up and not complain.

Chris Rock, who’s known his share of controversy, came out with a second Tweet calling TJ out for his remarks, saying “…that sh1t wasnt called for and i don’t support it at all.”

Comics’s careers die on the vine when venues won’t book them & audiences stop showing up. There are many comedians out there who have better material *and*superior delivery, who can navigate the icy ledge between pointing out bigotry & participating in it.

Jordan needs to make amends. Whether that will be enough to make up for his statements will depend on the people who’re willing to go see him & the places who will let him perform.

Oh Jeez. When someone shows you who they are — believe them. The comedy stage is not some magic platform where you get a free pass to assholery. He obviously is playing to the lowest of black male stereotypes for a cheap laugh. Fine, though when someone comes out tap dancing in white face when he is in the audience and tells black Americans to get over themselves about lynching, then he or any other defender of Tracy Morgan don’t have an ideological plank to stand on.

@CHYKOLAETHAI: You haven’t been here very long, have you? This site and many like it are just swimming with racist attacks on gay white men. They swim around this site like sharks waiting for every time a black person is called out for a homophobic statement, so they can inject race into the issue.

I know it shouldn’t become a racial issue. But it did. Am I therefore supposed to ignore the white elephant in the room (no pun intended)? The sad fact remains that there is a difference between the homophobia perpetrated by blacks and that perpetrated by whites. Whites do not, and cannot, hide behind a history of oppression to justify it (although whites have been oppressed for their ethnicity; remember “No Irish Need Apply”?)

@CHYKOLAETHAI: Agree completely. THis is not about all whites no more than black homophobia is about all blacks. I said as much in another exchange in which I mentioned this sort of thing. That saying some whites does not equal all whites. Just as I said that talking about Pro8 is not valid if one is going to ignore DC. As I said, what disturbs me is that someone like Jason with Adam Real and others backing him will say shit like “We should not have marched with blacks in the 60s” because of an incident like this. I don’t see, and nor will I ever, how making such a generalized statement based on what one feels about Morgan’s comic act is not racism. The fact is Morgan’s act on their own terms is a problem. Nor do I think its right to ignore the racist remarks while chiming in about the homophobic ones. Both should be condemned, and yet only one is.
