Reminder.

Just in case you forgot, Pope Benedict XVI and his Catholic peers don't approve of gay marriage, even if California does: "The union of love, based on matrimony between a man and a woman, which makes up the family, represents a good for all society that can not be substituted by, confused with, or compared to other types of unions." I guess the Dignity folks will have to grapple with this, but the rest of us don't give a shit.

Whenever I see Ratzinger I think of these words from Zeitgeist - The Movie (available for download free of charge on zeitgeistmovie dot com or you can watch it on their website)

"When it comes to bullshit, big time mentally bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of all the promises and exaggerated claims, religion.

Think about it, religion has actually convinced people, that there is an invisible man living in the sky, who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do, and if you do any of these ten things he has a special place full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry for ever and ever till the end of time.

But he loves you!"

Sorry, I went off half-cocked (BLUSH) with my previous posting. Here is what I wanted to post.

Whenever I see Ratzinger I think of these words from Zeitgeist - The Movie (available for download free of charge on zeitgeistmovie dot com or you can watch it on their website) :

“When it comes to bullshit, big time mentally bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of all the promises and exaggerated claims, religion.

But he loves you!
He loves you and he needs money!
He always needs money!

He is all powerful, all perfect all wise but somehow, he just can't handle money.

Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes and they always need a little more.

Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy shit!”

I still think that Ron Reagan said it best on MSNBC. I'll paraphrase here, but it was his thought.

There is no such thing as gay marriage. That phrase was just made up to divide and conquer. There is only marriage, and right now in most states if people are in a same-gendered relationship, they can't take part in that government sanctioned contract.

If the word marriage is the hold up. Then the government needs to get out of the marriage business and leave that to the church. Civil Unions for everyone!
