Reminder: Michael Jackson Is Black

mjebony.jpg
Just in case you forgot that the King of Pop used to be black, Ebony magazine placed pearly white Michael Jackson on their December issue. Shouldn’t that top left headline read “The African-American You Don’t Know”?

Also, please note that Jackson’s darker on Ebony than he when he appeared on L’uomo Vogue.

Airbrushing is so awesome.

I wonder if it can make me look like Denzel Washington.

Putting Michael Jackson on the cover of Ebony is like OUT and the Advocate putting straight people on the cover of their rags.

Okay, what’s the comic line? Isn’t America a great place where a black man can grow up to be a successful white women.

Michael Jackson has a skin disease called vitiligo. It got so bad that he decided to go through a process called depigmentation which is not uncommon for severe sufferers of vitiligo. That is when you’re body is so significantly more covered in depigmented skin than pigmented skin, it is easier to just depigment the rest than attempt to repigment most of your body. This at least will provide some consistency to your skin color. Vitiligo is also the reason he began wearing makeup in the 80s, to even out/hide the discoloration. You can see patches on his hands and face in many photos throughout the 80s, even in his Thriller days. I know a lot about vitiligo because I have it and have discussed it with many others who do.

Now Michael Jackson is crazy and has other issues. But he cannot be blamed for his skin condition.

I’d also like to add that Michael Jackson has never disowned his heritage, claimed to be white, or anything of the sort. He is and always will be an african american man, and that is what he has always said.

I never bought that “vitiligo” story. I think he deliberately wanted to change his looks to appear more white.

Homegirl looks fierce in those pics. I wish I had his eyebrow arch! Make up and lighting can do amazing things!

I never thought that the pigmentation problem was solved by totally removing all pigment. Okay, the plastic surgery, eh?

I’ve always thought that Michael Jackson wanted to look like Dianna Ross of the Supremes.

Look it up, its called “depigmentation”. Wikipedia has an entry on it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depigmentation

“Depigmentation of the skin is commonly linked to people who suffer with vitiligo who then apply a topical cream containing the organic compound monobenzone to remove the remaining pigment.”

Not hard to find at all. And you don’t have to “buy” the vitiligo story, all you have to do is look at pictures of him throughout time to know its true.

If Michael Jackson wanted to look like Diana Ross, he wouldn’t make himself white since she’s obviously black.

Michael is darker on Ebony than he appeared on L’uomo? Well I would think so, given that the photos are in black and white. lol MJ has been on the cover of Ebony moreso than any African American male. So yes, we remember hes black.

Wes, thanks for linking to my blog :)
