Over on the Daily, Claire Howorth makes an interesting case drawing parallels between two of television’s hottest (and campiest) shows, ABC’s Revenge and PBS’ Downton Abbey. The show might be separated by time, space and networks, but both revolve around rich and dysfunctional families that include oddly frozen-faced matriarchs and tainted young anti-heroines who are often the architects of their own misery. And both are faves with gay couch potatoes. Of course we’d rather party with Lady Mary than Emily Thorne. (But that’s just us.)
Here’s Howorth’s full lowdown on the shows’ intersecting lives.

DOWNTOWN-UPTOWN ABBEY, however, does not have those daytime drama silent, count-to-five, moody stares as the characters wait for the words from their sponsors, which REVENGE actually does.
