He's so obsessed with religious guilt over his basic human nature that he's willing to "sacrifice" his biological identity–a pretty "selfless" act, I guess, if we can include "self-destructive" in the definition of "selfless". Yes, it's SO selfish to love a person who you're attracted to and to be HONEST about who you are. Those are bad qualities.
A person is much better off surrounded by those "religious" folk who love feeling smug about "curing" homosexuals.
