Well that was fun! On their first day back to do The Lawmaking, Rhode Island’s state legislators quickly nixed Gov. Don Carcieri’s veto that provided body claiming and funeral planning rights to same-sex surviving partners. The House voted 67-3; the Senate voted was 29 to 3. But that was not actually the most interesting F-U to the gov that lawmakers handed him: They also removed Carcieri’s power to fill vacant U.S. Senate seats.

How about this for a headline, using your words, but in an order that actually makes some sense:
“AWESOME: Rhode Island Legislators Override Gov. Carcieri’s Bullshit Veto of Funeral Rights Bill; Nix Senate Appointments Too!”
OR, better would be:
“AWESOME: Rhode Island Legislature Says FU to Homophobic Governor!”
I have resisted in joining the justified critiquing of Queerty editing; issues are more important than grammar. But, I just can’t take it! For fuck’s sake, do you guys even read your own work? Your headline makes no sense whatsoever.
And 6 grammatical errors in a short paragraph of 4 sentences/75 words! Yikes!
Evan
Oh, dear.
“Writing,” they call it.
And English departments around the country gently wept…
Caitlin
Woah woah woah, I followed the CONTINUE link from my RSS feeds to read a half a sentence? That’s bullshit, Queerty. Subscribing via RSS was a mistake.
Evan
Yeah, they always do that.
That’s much of the reason Queerty tends to remain in my reader with 400+ unread posts. It just doesn’t call out to a person, you know…
Mike
Agreed. I had no idea whether this was a good thing or a bad thing. Confusing post.

The most “interested” [sic] thing about this post was guessing which language it was written it before being translated into Quenglisch.

now i know.

Are you guys freakin kidding me???????
Today we recieve the very rare news that a scuzball frightwing
nutbag lunatic who went out of his way to try and put a
whole lot of hurt on grieving Gays got bitchslapped silly
Instead of savoring that sweet and quite rare victory.
Instead the BOQB choses to concentrate on one of the more pressing issues which has tremendous negative impact on the Gay
community as a whole. The fact that David missed a few
of Miss Stumblefuk’s grammer classes……..WTF??
(he was probably getting his first kiss and then some….)

Oh Terrwill, miss your prune juice this morning?
My critique was that Queerty’s inanely edited headline screwed the pouch on a great story: “AWESOME: Rhode Island Legislature Says FU to Homophobic Governor!”
What happened in Rhode Island is good news and good fun; but check the comments, and its quite obvious not many Queerty fans even bothered to check it out.

No. 12 Terrwill:
Oops, perhaps my pooch isn’t a pouch? But then, me too, just a bitch and not a superbitch, cause grammer ain’t grammar.
Per Maggot, you are probably right, how else can someone get such a sourpuss face?
LOL.

Granted it was a smooth move by what is normally construed as a self-serving, corrupt general assembly. BFD! The guv is on his way out. The real test is legalizing same-sex marriage, which has not been approached with the current guv in office. I think you will find an about face from this general assembly on this matter. Claiming a stiff is one thing but two faggots getting married; not in Rhode Island.

I’ve given up on the grammar/spelling thing with them. Now I look at it as more of a gay ‘Sudoku’ where we have to fill in the missing words/tense/letters by ourselves to play.
