Rick Santorum Opposes Blacks In The Military

Since Rick Santorum thinks that letting gays in the military is “social experimentation,” he probably agrees with his 1941 counterpart who said the same thing about that letting blacks in the military, right? No. But that’s only because being black doesn’t make you gay. Wait… what?!!

Yesterday, Fox News Sunday‘s Chris Wallace read Santorum the following quote from Colonel Eugene Householder, a man who served in the Army Adjutant General’s Office in 1941:

“The Army is not a sociological laboratory. Experimenting with Army policy, especially in time of war would pose a danger to efficiency, disciple and moral and would result in ultimate defeat.”

When Wallace asked Santorum if he agreed, Santorum answered, “Roughly yes.” Wallace then revealed the origin of the quote and said, “Everything that you said, living in close proximity, sharing bunks and showers, being in close proximity, what — he used exactly the same arguments you use to argue against racial integration in the military in the 1940s.”

Then Santorum explained why being gay isn’t the same as being black:

I know the whole gay community is trying to make this the new Civil Rights Act. It’s not. It’s not the same. You are black by the color of your skin. You are not homosexual necessarily by — obviously by the color of your skin or anything.

So skin color doesn’t make you gay? What if you’re really tanned or have fabulously clear skin? Doesn’t that make you even just a tiny bit gay?

Santorum went on with the usual tack that homosexuality is a minority “lifestyle.” He also suggested that homosexuality can be changed, even though the world’s largest medical and psychological associations disagree with him.

Commenters on the Fox News site are upset that Wallace asked Santorum “gotcha questions,” by which they mean questions about things he actually said.

But they shouldn’t be upset.

“The frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex” never really had a shot at the White House. So calling him out on his bigoted thinking merely clears the way for a more deserving hatemonger to rise towards the GOP Presidential nomination.

Say “thank you” to the nice man, folks.
