The Southern Baptist Convention officially declared war on gay marriage this week. Now, failed 2012 presidential candidate and eternal 2016 hopeful Rick Santorum is joining the cause, despite the fact that marriage equality is most likely about to become the law of the land. What is this, some kind of rhetorical last stand?
During a conference call, Santorum was asked what he would do as president about the fact that “our children are being forced to accept lifestyles that are totally against our values.” The caller went on to ask why “our government allows people that hurt children by way of child molestation” to impose their beliefs on others.

Right Wing Watch has obtained a recording. In it, Santorum wastes no time answering the question: “That’s one of the reasons why I talk about the importance of focusing on the nuclear family.”

He then added that the next president should focus on fighting for the rights of innocent children and ensuring they are raised by two parents of the opposite sex. None of this two dads or two moms or single moms or single dads business.
The not-a-chance-in-hell-contender added that if the Supreme Court strikes down state bans on gay marriage later this month “that doesn’t mean we won’t fight and try to push back both as the Congress should and as the president should as a co-equal branch of the government.”
Because that wouldn’t be a complete waste of everyone’s time.

From the moment I first saw Rick on tv years and years ago, I was reminded of a guy I briefly hooked up with a private orgy in DC back in the day. I have a pondering opinion to voice, & I fear it won’t be short. I have more of a scientific mind, so therefore do not believe in Any deity, although I do see the allure for those whom do believe. For them, if a belief comforts you in dark times, then by all means believe and pray your little heart out. Or yours even? Throughout our existence, we humans seem to Have to have a ‘bad guy’ type to gang up together on and unite in our hatred of them. Jews, women, African-Americans, gypsies, Irish, people from Pakastan, India, Saudi Arabia etc, Muslims… all the way to recently in our human history, homosexuals. I mean it truly shows just how primitive we still are. Our brains still tell us there has to be an Our Side, and Their Side, and we absolutely must pick one. In reality, it’s our own selves that find such grievous offences with ‘ the hated ‘, that cause up such a stir to begin with. We converse with ourselves internally, building upon notions of wrongness like bricks for a house, until we have fortified our self righteousness into our own Fort Knox, and then begin to infect those around us with our self planted seeds of hatred. Some of those whom believe in which ever religion feel justified and right because your religious book shares your views, or you were taught from an early age on what it says on certain subjects. Did you know that there are gay animals? Lovely creatures such as dolphins, monkeys, dogs, birds and many other species. You are taught that your God created animals, the most pure, simple and innocent of all his creations aside from plants and veggitations. Was he wrong? Please spare me drivel about Satan. If God thought these gay animals were so corrupt, he could change them to the ‘right way’. Your books, respective of whichever religion, was written by men. Men quite possibly tired of how things were going, and decided to change it. I have an inkling that the phrase ‘All the cute ones are gay or taken’ isn’t as new as we’d like to believe. Maybe the single men and women were tired of being rejected by the opposite sex because they claimed to be gay and/or already have partners. Who knows?
