Right Wing Spreads Even More Gay Panic After Staph Report

wizardscarcrowclose-2.jpg
Americans For Truth leader Peter LaBarbera joined Matt Barber in demonizing gay folk for “spreading” disease.

Is this not an eerie reminder of the initial stories 25 years ago about AIDS — then called GRID (Gay-Related Immunodeficiency Disease)? It is unfathomable that after that plague, disease specialists and the media are now surprised at the correlation of new infections with homosexual behavior.

LaBarbera and his ilk don’t seem to understand that right wing rhetoric helps breed unsafe sex practices. They should really be indicting themselves.

wait… i’m confused. Staph Infection isn’t actually “sexually transmitted”. an open Staph Infection is highly contagious (as seen with several reports around high schools in the Austin area).

So, just because there is an increase in Staph Infections doesn’t mean everyone is fucking…

Right Dawster. The fact that it’s turning up in gay men right now could largely be a function of a relatively small social group being the first to show its impact.
