Vienna Life Ball bernhard.fritsch©lifeball_opening 002

Vienna Lifeball (May 31)

Life Ball is one of the biggest and likely most glamorous AIDS charity events of the year. Star performers and participants have been coming out of the woodwork and flocking to Vienna for the event since 1993, which raises bundles of money for AIDs organizations all over the world.  This year’s Life Ball is devoted to the fantasy of Hieronymus Bosch’s “Garden of Earthly Delights,” reflected in the slogan “Love is a bloom growing everywhere.”

This year’s event will include the usual red carpet and opening ceremony, fashion show and the elaborate ball inside the Vienna’s City Hall.

MatineeMatinee Las Vegas (May 23-26)

World Pride London by JJ Keyes

Toronto World Pride (June 20-29)

We were there for Deborah Cox and Boy George‘s extraordinary performances in London’s Trafalgar Square at the last World Pride and looking forward to this year’s extravaganza. WorldPride 2014 Toronto (WP14TO), presented by Pride Toronto, is shaping up to be one of the biggest international events of the year. The glitz and glamorous parade takes place Sunday, June 29th. InterPride, the international association of LGBT Pride orbs around the world, awards the licence to host WorldPride to one of its member prides every few years. Pride Toronto will host the first WorldPride event ever held in North America, and are expecting close to 1.5 Million visitors.

NYC Pride 2013 by JJ Keyes15

New York Pride (June 27-29)

In the early morning of June 28, 1969, the Stonewall Inn was raided by police and history would never be the same. One year later Christopher Street united through the Christopher Street Liberation Day Committee for the first Gay Pride March, commemorating the riots.

The country (and world) listened and battles were won as the march grew year by year. Heritage of Pride hosts New York Pride events including the Rally, VIP Rooftop Party, Rapture on the River, Pride Fest, The March, Dance on the Pier, and Pride Poolside. Cher, Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Deborah Cox, Cyndi Lauper, and Lady Gaga have come out in past years to sing, dance, and celebrate with the masses.

The March is one of the longest processions you will ever see.

Stockholm Pride by Jeffrey James Keyes47

Stockholm Pride (July 28-August 2)

We’re always up for taking a liking to a handsome viking, and Stockholm Pride delivers. Nearly half-a-million people fill the streets for the annual parade before letting loose at Pride Park. There are plenty of events to keep you busy: a weekly lineup at Pride Park, nightly events at the popular Kolingsborg nightclub and Torget, the Mr. Gay Sweden competition, and a hot Viking bear party that DJ Vinny Vero often flies in for.

Who knows who might show up? ABBA, Robyn, Roxette, the latest Eurovision winner, or maybe even Alexander Skarsgard. The posh Hilton Stockholm Slussen is the official hotel of Pride, with plenty of discounts and offers if you book in advance.

Burning Man (August 25-September 1)

Burning Man virgin? Order your tickets now, book your flight to Reno and start planning for this year’s theme (Caravansary). Nearly fifty-thousand exotic and vibrant people flock to Nevada’s Black Rock Desert each year to build Black Rock City, dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. The parties are out of control, relationships built life changing. Participants build and celebrate art and humanity through theme camps. At the end of the week, Black Rock City burns the enormous Burning Man and pack up without leaving any evidence.

Ascension-10-by-Jeffrey-James-Keyes-600x400

Fire Island Ascension (August 15-17)

Party (like a rockstar) for charity on this infamous daytime beach party turned epic weekend of fun. Ascension and the Pines Party are two of the biggest party weekends in the Fire Island Pines, and everyone gets into the fun. DJs like Hector Fonseca, Theresa, Jonathan Peters, DJ Pornstar, and the Perry Twins set the pace of the long weekend of pool, beach, and underwear parties to write home about.

Special guest performances by artists Alexis Jordan, Dragonette, and Crystal Waters spice up the weekend and keep you dancing to the next pool party. Have enough of the beach? Head to the newly improved Sip N’ Twirl for DJ Lina’s magic and throwback.

Southern Decadence (August 17-September 1)

Skip Mardi Gras, Southern Decadence is the hottest party in New Orleans. Southern Decadence was first held in 1972 when a group of friends threw a “Southern Decadence Party: Come As Your Favorite Southern Decadent”, with impersonations all over the table. Each year boasts different theme, ranging from “Voodoo That You Do, Menage a Trois, and HURRICANE: This Year, They Blow Back.” The 42nd Official Southern Decadence will take place over Labor Day Weekend this year, and there is plenty to share. Book a room close to the French Quarter as the gays storm Bourbon Street and take no mercy.  The main event will kick off in the French Quarter at 2pm on Sunday, August 31.

Folsom-Street-East-©JJ-Keyes-600x400Folsom Street Fair San Francisco September 21

Daddies, Pigs, and Leather Queens to the Bay. This year’s Folsom Street Fair will take place on Folsom Street from 7th to 12th Streets on Sunday, September 21. The world’s largest leather event attracts people of all shapes and sizes decked out in the most creative and outrageous leather/rubber/fetish attire imaginable.

Over 450,000 people come out for not only the main event, but a week of outlandish and extraordinary events during San Francisco Leather Week, a seven-day celebration of all things leather and kink. Last year Jonathan Groff and the cast of HBO’s Looking stepped into the crowd to film part of an episode. Who knows who you might rub (leather) cuffs with this year…
