Word to would-be assailants: Don't scream anti-gay epithets at your assailants, or you're on the hook for a hate crime. We're talking to you Robert Bellamy Jr. (and your two accomplices), who's suspected of attacking two men on Halloween.

While there's no official confirmation either victims are LGBT, one was dressed in drag, which is enough for New York cops to investigate the Long Island attack — punching the victims in the faces and knocking them to the ground, in order to steal $7 — as a hate crime.
As Ballamy told police, according to court records: "God made me hate gay people." Well, maybe his religious beliefs will help him get off!

On Halloween day?
Why can't people just leave us alone?
It's not like we've done anything to them.
oh goodness. more religion. it's used as a scapegoat. Personal responsibility people. Oh wait, it's easier to say, my God doesn't approve of this and he'll forgive me so I'm cool with trying to kill you.
I thought it took a lot more for NY cops to investigate something like this
Religion is no excuse for being subhuman to others.
Did God make you a thief too?
He certainly seems to have made you a piece of shit.
I hope God makes the guys who are gonna ram their cocks in his sorry ass in prison HIV+ too!!
tavdy79 wrote, "Religion is no excuse for being subhuman to others." He may not be actually using religion as an excuse: "God made me do it" is simply the first step in an insanity defense. What other defense could he have? After "God made me do it," all he needs is a Viennese psychiatrist saying, "Ja, und es ist klar dass dieser Kerl verrueckt ist." ("It's clear that this bloke is crazy.")
It's like the Middle Eastern story about some guy who has a reputation for being some sort of mystic. A king tells him to prove it or have his head chopped off. The "mystic" thinks for a few seconds and says, "I see strange things. Demons under the earth. A golden bird in the sky." The king then asks, "How can you see through the floor or far into the sky?" "Fear is all you need."
UBMS – ugly black male syndrome.
They don't call a gun "the great equalizer" for nothing.
Went to Malverne High School with this fool. Was in special ED classes throughout school, shocker!!! Since tax payers money couldnt cure his diease with all the special teachers who tried to help him. Ignorence/lack of upbringing will result in the waste of more tax money to feed this pathetic moron in jail.
@terrwill
That's a fucked up thing to say…
!
The God Defense always gets interpreted as a chemical imbalance of the mind, which it is! Doesn't mean the thug should do less time than that of a Hate Crime! It's as lame as he made a pass at me defense. Build more prisons!
"Well, maybe his religious beliefs will help him get off!"
Perhaps, but for most people thinking about hot girls or guys works better.
I'm just as pissed as you Jason, but don't go there.
People who believe in a Big Invisible Bi-Polar Daddy Who Lives in The Sky should seek psychiatric help.
I think people that believe in an invisible man in the sky who controls the world can prolly be diagnosed with some sort of disorder.
Another monkey on loose, we might as well bring back slavery since its in the bible.
Come on niggers! back on the boat. lets start over!!!
Well, if he was dragged to Church – he was taught to hate homosexuals. I was dragged to church and that's what I was taught. Fortunately, I grew up and did my own thinking. It's great to be ex-christian, ex-brainwashed and ex-hater.
This guy is gay it takes one to know one.
Self hate has his heart.
god made hate blacks
you don't go to prison for mugging 3 people. And rapes that happen there are what happens to sex offenders, not someone who beat a few fags– he will be fine, other criminals will like him plenty. He will live to walk and harm our community for many more years, causing pain and suffering and our society lots of money. By the time his gold teeth are resting in the ground, he will probably have sired 10 or 12 future problems,each with a different baby mama.
It's amazing how "gays" are using this incident to express their latent and not so latent "racisim". Pity that they have allowed EVIL forces to come in and darken thier hearts.
In this state, they connot be a good catch . Anyone involved intimately/sexually with someome who harbors this in their heart will surely receive negative energy. Rule of thumb is, you want to have MATURE, LOVING, POSITIVE and FAIR people in your life. People with ugly in their heart and who expresses it, connot be at peace with themselves.
The one who they are really hurting and causing the most damage to, THEMSELVES.
Many Gay white males are some of the most sexist and racist people out there. The same level of social autonomy a lot of them want includes justifying these two defects just like their straight counterparts.
Now if someone said that Andrew Cunanan and John Wayne Gacy were "faggots" and made gay people look bad, the same loser queens who delight in calling black people "niggers" would be all up in arms, demanding an act of congress to right the wrong.
one solution – 3 bullets to the brain
@sexyrexy i would love nothing more than to lodge 3 bullets in this animal's low functioning brain
I have given myself permission to not cow-tow to the PC police. I did it on Nov 5, 2008.
You know what?
I can neither condone nor condemn some of the comments on this thread. Seriously.
It's not as if I'm not saying it in my own head.
And it's not as if the people that some black fool like this targets don't look like me.
I will no longer take a position on this.
@JT, I despise this young man too for what he did, but a lot of the white queens on this board are just using this tragic incident as an excuse to vent hatred toward blacks that they already felt. Not that they need an excuse. Not all of them obviously, but enough of them to notice.
For every anti-black racist remark every time a homophobe who is black says or does something offensive, there are about five to ten attacks on "gay white men." And as a gay white man, I am offended. It reminds me of Michael Steele's racist and homophobic comment "gay white men have enough rights already. Most of you hate Republicans (even the few pro-gay ones), yet you don't mind talking like the head of the GOP?
SR some of the most blatant and disgusting racists on this site are actually the paid trolls of the christofacists. See they post some racist, sexist, or pediophilic drivel and then point to it to show how intolerant we are.
And yes I have met plenty of racists within the community also. Just wanted to point out the inciters.
There are racists everywhere. Gay people, however, are not institutionally racist. Black people, however, ARE institutionally homophobic. The institutions with which the black community associates itself with (eg the church) are homophobic.
@31 Jason:
There is a difference between screeching racial slurs (out of bigotry or reflexive anger) and pointing out the widespread influence of reactionary Christian denominations on the African-American community dating back to the 19th century, even at the expense of LGBT blacks. But those throwing the R-word around don't seem to be able to make that distinction.
Please, gay people can be and ARE institutionally racist – as white people if not as gays. And gay institutions, especially bars, have discriminated against people of color, especially blacks.
It works both ways.
Would this were a better world…
@ Jason, what a silly commit. You're a perfect example of how rascism blinds.Whenever there is a story here, involving a black person and what they have done, you always direct a NEGATIVE commit toward their race/ethnicity as opposed to their ACTION.
Iv'e been to black and white churches and BOTH have on occasion spoken out against homosexuality. The Mormon church, over 97percent "white". The Catholic church, over 90percent "white". Church of Scientology,over 97percent "white". Each of these institutions contributed over a million dollars to defeat prop 8.
@33 Sexy Rexy:
"Please, gay people can be and ARE institutionally racist – as white people if not as gays."
Accusing white people of institutionalized racism is itself racist.
@35 Tackle:
"Iv'e been to black and white churches and BOTH have on occasion spoken out against homosexuality. The Mormon church, over 97percent "white". The Catholic church, over 90percent "white". *cough*Southern Baptists*cough*Nation of Islam*cough*
@ 36 Attmay, The Southern Baptists, with over 16 million members and 42,000 churches, has only 1 million black members. Blacks, Asians and Hispanics combined make up only 20percent of members. So if they did donate a million dollars, the majority of it did not come from blacks.
And the nation of Islam, with only 20,000 members,and more active in the northeastern part of the U.S. did NOT contribute a million dollars or any significant amount in the passage of prop 8. Good try though. And by the way, i'll be sure and buy you a cough-drop.
