Just because you're a priest or nun or whatever doesn't mean you cease to be a person. They do have SOME freedoms like what to do with their own free time. It is not like they were conspiring to blow up a building at this retreat. And contrary to popular belief legitimate dissent has always been in the Catholic Church. Less tolerated at times, true, but everyone was not in agreement- that is why they had all those Councils (Nicea, Ghent, Diet of Worms etc.) This kind of stuff always amazes me why it is news.
