Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has distanced himself from recently unearthed and exceedingly offensive letters:
The quotations in The New Republic article are not mine and do not represent what I believe or have ever believed. I have never uttered such words and denounce such small-minded thoughts.
…
This story is old news and has been rehashed for over a decade. It’s once again being resurrected for obvious political reasons on the day of the New Hampshire primary.
Paul says he takes “moral responsibility” for not monitoring articles published under his name, whatever that means.

How typical: another “libertarian” who can’t play by his own rules of self-sufficiency and individual responsibility. Thing is, he needs to take FULL PERSONAL RESPONSIBLITY for these newsletters (“Ron Paul’s Freedom Report”, “Ron Paul Political Report”, and “The Ron Paul Survival Report” all published by the “Foundation for Rational Economics and Education” — a nonprofit foundation established by…Ron Paul!) not “moral responsibility” — whatever the hell THAT means.
The man is a hypocrite, a charlatan (check out this “small government libertarian”‘s voting record for pork delivery — apparently he’s against government intrusion except when it benefits his consituency), and — thank goodness –hasn’t a prayer of getting the republican nomination (though that would certainly be a Hoot).
Gays and Lesbians have every right to support any nutcase they like — it’s what makes America great. But what would ya’ll be screaming if, say, Hillary had published the same nastiness in “The Hillary Newsletter”…blood, I suspect, would be called for.

whateva, even if he didn’t actually pen those articles he allowed them to go out under his name for years! This man is dangerous.

Let me start off by sayin that I am indeed a gay man.
How DARE you call Ron Paul a charlatan! I’m disgusted that the gay community (the supposedly more forward-thinking individuals of our society) would be so easily controlled by the mainstream media! Look at yourselves! You support your Democratic candidates because “they support my right to a civil union”. B S. Clinton, Obama, they won’t do anything to help our community. Ron Paul actually voted AGAINST the proposed amendment to the constitution that would define marriage as between a man and a woman. How many Republicans can you think of that did that? He is FOR CIVIL LIBERTIES. He is against the Federal Government telling us what to do. And yet you still support Obama and Clinton, even though you know that they voted ‘yes’ on the Patriot Act, and that they won’t take a direct stance on gay marriage because they don’t want to detract potential voters? And they STILL want to stay in Iraq (yeah, they say they’ll leave in 4 months, or in 6 months or who know’s when, but how can you trust them? There voting records say otherwise– research it)?! Heck, if you were true gays and lesbians in support of real change, you’d support Dennis Kucinich (who’s for gay MARRIAGE, and not just civil unions) or Ron Paul who’d rather have this issue left to the states. But I guess I was wrong about the intellect of this crowd. It’s too bad that we lost a lot of our great minds and thinkers to the AIDS epidemic, now, all we’re left with are the foo-foo pseudo-activists: no passion, no courage, no change. You are just like the rest of the American sheeple– you will vote for whoever’s face you see most on the TV.

I did, and I’m a hispanic, gay, liberal, life-long Democrat. Do yourself a favor. Get informed.

Oh please, I am more than informed enough to realize that his so-called repudiation of a newsletter in his name that he allowed to go on for years and years never ONCE repudiated all of the anti-gay bile. Hell, he even still believes in Don’t Ask Don’t Tell! If you buy his claptrap as a gay person, you are delusional.
khia213
The newsletters were also wildly racist. Even last week on Meet the Press he declared that the Civil War was an unnecessary war.
Racist and homophobia go hand in hand.

Gay in El Paso: You’re welcome to embrace whatever silly pipe dream you want: that’s the wonder of America. However, I’ll thank you not to engage in personal attacks against me: please stick to your issue and the irrelevant but fervent support of this (I’ll say it again) charlatan. Please don’t tell me why I’m supporting the candidates I’m supporting. You don’t know me, you don’t know everyone in “the gay community”, and your short-sighted notion that I would support a Democrat solely on the basis of the marriage question is laughable. None of the candidates, regardless of their position, will be able to impose same-sex marriage on the American people. Simple as that. It’s a non-issue. We need to look at politics in a more complex, challenging way: who’s best for the nation in the long run? whose candidacy will most likely prevent further rightwing neocon rule? Who has experience, who has a track record, who has the rhetorical abilities to unite? There are way more issues here than ones impacting the gay community, and since it’s a given that politicians will say whatever’s expedient to aid their election, what they say is far less relevant than what they’ve done — and the extent to which they take responsibility for their past actions.
So by all means support this media creation (because that’s what he is–a fun sideshow for the MSM, who makes the mainstream republicans look slightly less like the lunatics they are).
Give him money, wear his buttons, and vote for him; but leave me and the rest of the gay community out of it, please.

Does anyone know where you find the Freedom Reports, alleged newsletters? While I m not in any danger of voting to R. Paul it would be nice to read the language in person and my own decisions.

To ee.em.bee:
who’s best for the nation in the long run?
Ron Paul. It all comes down to economics. Our government is addicted to printing money whenever we need it, and now we’re dealing with inflation and the mortgage crisis. And It IS a crisis. Don’t disregard it. We’re looking at a national debt of 52 Trillion dollars?!!? Can you even fathom that!? The Democrats talk about change, but all they want is universal healthcare and to stay in Iraq even longer. We can’t afford to do this. We can’t afford our current budget. We need to stop the spending. We need to stop the meaningless wars. We need to stop the manning of our military bases in foreign lands. We need to stop building bridges in Iraq, when we have bridges falling apart in our own backyard!
whose candidacy will most likely prevent further rightwing neocon rule?
Neocon-run Fox News HATES Ron Paul. That in itself should be an indication of the credibility and virtue of Ron Paul. I will go so far as to say that he is incorruptible. You won’t find a more honest person up there among the candidates (except maybe Dennis Kucinich who’s probably on the same level of honesty). You need to quit listening to what that noisebox is telling you. There are no News networks that you can deem trustworthy. NBC, ABC, CBS (Logo), they’re all the same. You may think you’re informed but look at what the “foreign” papers are telling you: Voter fraud in the most recent New Hampshire Primary has been CONFIRMED. Look up Sutton and Greenville. These towns reported 0 votes for Ron Paul, and then when the people in those towns who VOTED for Ron Paul complained, they said, Oh, well it was a “human error” we actually meant to put down “31” votes. Can’t you see what’s happening to this country? Why aren’t our OWN Newspapers reporting on this travesty against freedom and democracy?! Inexcusable!
Who has experience, who has a track record, who has the rhetorical abilities to unite?
Ron Paul has never voted for a bill that he felt was unconstitutional. EVER. In his 30 years of being in Congress, he has never betrayed his own ideals or compromised his integrity. Can you see the significance of that? The other candidates try to disregard him. They laugh at him during debates. They talk over him when he tries to make his points. They fear Ron Paul. He runs the risk of exposing them all for the frauds and flip-floppers that they really are. Why do you think Ron Paul has garnered so much support from the most diverse group of individuals, since pretty much– Ever!? Democrats, Republicans, liberals, conservatives, libertarians, blacks, Hispanics, whites, asians, muslims, christians, atheists, gays, straights, etc. etc. the list goes on. He is the TRUE uniter.
He is hardly a media creation. Wow, that really makes me cringe. I can’t believe that some people might go so far as to think that. He is beyond the media. His support reaches into the hearts of true Americans, those that love this country enough, that they will take all of your sneers, your jeers, your insults, your putdowns, and keep on going no matter what. Vote fraud or not. Nothing will stop our movement. Nothing will stop our Revolution. That is the power of Ron Paul’s message. That is the power of Freedom.

The rabid verbage spewed forth by the Paulists proves more about the deranged nature of his campaign than any old racist antigay newsletter.

To Tom Bacchus:
I take it you didn’t Google “Sutton” or “Greenville”?
I know that I have tone of urgency when I wrote the last comment; I intended it to sound that way. I’m sorry you feel that I’m spewing forth “VERBIAGE” (seriously, if you’re gonna try and attack my comments, at least spell-check your own…), but these are dark times. Did you even see the Republican Debate on Faux News last night? The ‘moderators’ had the audacity to ask Ron Paul about the 9/11 truth conspiracy, and whether or not he was ‘electable’. And then, after Ron Paul gave a MAGNIFICENT answer to the electability question, they cut out his response when Faux re-aired it later that night! Talk about censorship! And then, Faux tried to get the YouTube video of Ron Paul’s response erased for good! This is only the tip of the iceberg, people. We need to make a stand against this blatant attack on free speech. We, who support Ron Paul, feel we are making this stand for ourselves, for those who have not yet heard his message, and for those who have heard his message, yet still choose to ignore it. We are for liberty. How can you possibly argue against that?
So like I stated before, you can belittle and insult us as much as you want, but that’s not going to stop us from fighting for what we believe in: our rights, our freedoms, and the Constitution.

Ron Paul is the love child of Ross Perot and David Duke, according to reliable sources like the voices in your head. Don’t take your crazy, cultist, cracker-nation ass off the stage yet. You have so much more damage to do to your own party like endorse Mike Huckabee before your followers drink the KoolAid and lay down for a McLovin-fest of loser geeks at a RonPaul Die-In. Never trust a man with two first names, my mother always said. Even the crazy ones!
Gay in El Paso, Texas
Why doesn’t anyone actually take the arguments I’ve mentioned seriously? You’re all so quick to judge (and you gays should know better…) and name-call instead of actually doing some research and finding out more about where Ron Paul stands on the issues.
Please someone tell me why Ron Paul’s economic policy (including: ending the federal reserve, and getting rid of large subsidies to corporations) won’t save us from inflation and another depression, or why having a non-interventionist foreign policy won’t make us more secure, or why ending the war on drugs won’t lower drug usage rates and help protect the minorities who suffer from it the most?! Seriously! Meth is a F–king HUGE problem in our community and you all want to vote for candidates who will just perpetuate the insanity!?! Prohibition NEVER works. It will always lead to crime. History repeats itself. Even restrictions (like lower usage ages) result in detrimental social problems. Look at the youth in America’s drinking problem when compared to Europe’s more liberal stance on drinking. Notice any differences?? Please SOMEONE respond to the issues instead of attacking the man.
It’s just so frustrating–trying to tell everyone that they’re staring at shadows in the firelight, when the real truth lies in the beauty of the sunlight…
