I like Evan Bayh. He has a strong pro-gay stance, at least, unlike that idiot Kaine!

If Illinois Senator Obama can’t carry the adjacent state of Indiana without picking a VP from it something is very wrong.

In addition, since Democratic strongholds are on both coasts one wonders how two mid-westerners will appeal to those crowds.

Alan-

As a former Hoosier, I can tell you with some authority that Indiana is generally a staunchly red state, no matter how much border it shares with Illinois. In fact, the only consistently blue district in Indiana is the one closest to Chicago.

HOWEVER! The really exciting thing is that in the last midterm elections, Bayh was credited with turning 5 of Indiana’s 9 districts blue, making it a blue state for the first time in God-knows-how-long. And in the upcoming election, I think Indiana could be considered a major swing state.

So my point is that I’m a Bayh fan, and whether or not he gets the veep spot, I think you might see some stuff go down in Indiana this year.
