The Soup cutie and Community narcissist Joel McHale last night handed out The Soup Awards, where reality television punchlines accepted honorary degrees from the University of Ho-hio. Among the winners: RuPaul and his merry band of drag queens, who were honored, of course, with the Queens Of Style award. Congrats, lady boys! [via]
@Hate Rupaul: How so? I would think the dozens of homophobic, misogynistic, nihilist rappers would be more damaging than a successful, confident, entrepreneurial black man that provides a voice for a group that is both misunderstood and underexposed.

@valentine ghost: I second this. Ru is smart, funny, confident and successful black man. He is a positive role model to tons of young gays and wannabe drag queens.

@Hate Rupaul: I think black people like you are the TRUE embarrassment! *smh*

@HateRupaul: You hate Rupaul because of the success? Because you expect Ru to represent all Black queer people? Yeah, that makes no sense. If the only way you got to feel better yourself is to knock someone else, you’re sad, lonely, boring & bitter. Good luck with that, hater.

@Hate Rupaul: Because the Black rappers and actors are either too self-loathing to come out as proud gay men or are afraid their homophobic audience will reject them (remember what Wendy Williams said: at least HALF of the rappers out there are gay. And I believe it!) By the way, you are truly a fucking idiot.
Rupaul rocks!!!

@james_from_cambridge: I wouldn’t quote Wendy Williams on anything as truth. She’s a gossip-monger.
On a different note, since you brought her up, I do think she bears a strong resemblance to Ru.

I prefer RuPaul to represent the black community rather than all those thug mainstream rappers you see.
I rather have a clean cut Black man representing the black community than the angry, hypermasculine thugs in the ghettos.
Why continue to adopt the personas of violence when everything could be happier and more serene?

@TheRealAdam: she kinda does, she gets the same hate as Khloe K
@phineas: troll fail…. why are you here?
@Alex: ugh! Comment of the century…. copy and paste copy and paste… EVERYWHERE. Def an underrated statement.

@Hate Rupaul: No, hip hop and rap culture is. Vile thugs.
