Ryan Buell + Kieron Richardson (2 TV Types You Haven’t Heard Of) Are This Week’s Newly Out Queers

A pair of minor comings out this week! Ryan Buell, who hosts A&E’s documentary series Paranormal State, comes out as bisexual (and, hah, Roman Catholic) in his upcoming book. And Kieron Richardson (pictured), the British star of Hollyoaks and a one-time Dancing On Ice competitor, came out on a morning show — perfect timing to coincide with his fictional character also going gay.

I’m sure we already knew Kieron Richardson was gay! Maybe it was public speculation but he was a judge at Mr Gay UK (or maybe Mr Gay Manchester) and in the write up they said he was gay.

From the Mr Gay 2008 website:

2 of my friends from Hollyoaks the actors Kieran Richardson and Dominque Jackson also came along but Hollyoaks wouldn’t allow Kieran to be a judge as even though he’s gay he plays a straight character.

He’s cute but a lousy speller. It’s spelled Kieran….not Kieron.

A bit snarky, JD. It appears that both came out voluntarily. Kieron may have a low/nonexistent profile in the US but he is quite a popular television star in the UK. Ryan may be relatively unknown but it’s great that he’s not afraid to acknowledge his sexuality publicly,
Have any young leading men/stars on any US soaps, or prime time shows for that matter, come out since Chris Colfer acknowledged being gay on “Chelsea Lately?” Have any television hosts/presenters/newscasters come out recently? Has a recent Emmy winner acknowledged, confirmed or denied a recent “National Enquirer” story? Has Matt Boomer finally acknowledged that he’s gay and in a relationship? NO! So why bitch about the guys who have the cojones to do so?!? Shame on you.

      Kudos to Kieron and Ryan.

Good for them. Now maybe we can have real celebrities in America come out, no?
