I’m not a monster! I think it’s fantastic. It’s been legal in Canada for ten years now. To me [the opposition] just seems crazy. I find it amusing how polarising it can be here. Ted Cruz is saying it’s judicial tyranny. To me it seems very humane. Like a given. We shouldn’t be in a state of awe and celebration for it, we should be taking it for granted, like regular marriage.”
— Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds in an interview with HuffPo Live discussing homophobes who stupidly said they were moving to Canada after SCOTUS ruled in favor of same-sex marriage in the U.S., even though Canada also has marriage equality
BJ McFrisky
I can’t believe that Ryan Reynolds just referred to all Muslims as “monsters.”
Tick-tock, Ry-Guy — your days of having your head attached to your shoulders may be numbered.
Terry Green
Just another reason to love this man…
Steve Hanson
He’s way too sexy for those dumbass romantic comedies – hope he sticks to his new more serious roles.
Josh447
Leave it to a lying extremist to say Ryan Reynolds called all Muslims monsters. Show it to me in print smart guy. Fat chance fool. In your model all Muslims can’t read and don’t know the facts. Ever heard of a gay Muslim? No? Thought so. Case closed.
DannX68
@Josh447: Oh, I’ll tell my gay muslim friends that they don’t exist.
AxelDC
Canadians are a lot more chill about these things. That’s why Ted Cruz got kicked out of the country.
AxelDC
.@Josh447: I’ve slept with gay Muslims, mostly in Canada.
Transiteer
10 years ago Canada legalized gay marriage. Before that, and equally as important, Canada added anti-discrimination laws. Now you can’t be discriminated against in jobs or housing either. Since same sex marriage was legalized, it’s a non-event now — no one thinks anything of it. The sky is still up there and blue (when not snowing).
Charli Girl
Regular marriage?
Rick Wetzler
who said he was a monster? A Monster trying to stir the pot?

Look at the desperation of the Log Cabin republican types. Reynolds makes a valid comment that Ted Cruz is opposed to gay marriage, and the only thing BJ can think of is to desperately try to completely change the topic onto the right wing boogeyman “Oh no, the Muslims are coming!”.
BJ, here is a question for you, every GOP presidential candidate is opposed to gay rights, how do you defend that?
Milk
@Cam: You are wasting your time debating with a nut job supporter. The more articulate one would have posted a you tube rant already.
Ditamo
@BJ McFrisky: My roommate is Muslim, he knows I’m gay, he’s ok with it.
scotshot
@BJ McFrisky: Conservatives and the radical christian right were the main targets of his comment, radical muslims and other RWNJs are also included in the list.
BJ McFrisky
@scotshot: I’m very aware of who his targets were — which is why he seems all the more clueless for not recognizing that it’s not just radical Christians who’re intolerant of same-sex marriage, it’s also radical Islam (not to mention that Christians won’t pitch you off a rooftop for being gay).
@Ditamo: That’s good to hear. Changing hearts and minds one at a time.

Canadians are light years ahead of Americans in every way. I know I live in both countries. Americans have no idea what equality and freedom really means, and they don’t want to know. They are blind to anything outside their borders as well.
Give Americans a bible and gun and some sense of power over others and their happy.
Ryan thanks for speaking up, straight allies are always appreciated.

BJ, in the U.S. you’ll have to remind me, just how many radical muslims in Congress have proposed anti-gay amendments? How many Radical Muslim Mosques have spent over 100 million dollars to say…fight against gay marriage in CA?
Are radical muslims enemies of gay rights, sure, especially in places like Iran, but here in the U.S. our rights are under attack politically from radical Christians, and your little quips trying to minimize that just shows how much you’ve bought in to your own self hate, that you feel the need to defend them.
DuMaurier
@Charli Girl: “Regular marriage”?…Awkward phrasing, but we know what he meant.
Denis Antler Blanchette
And that my friends is our Canadian boy….doing us proud
BlueDude
@Cam: Cam, WHY do y’all even give BJ McF*ckhead the time of day? It’s not good for your blood pressure! Just scroll past the troll, as I do.
Alistair Wiseman
Of course Ryan Reynolds supports same-sex marriage, if wants to continue his career in wonderfully tolerant, diversity-loving leftist Hollywood.
Michael Woods
I’d like to marry Ryan Reynolds, he’s so damn fine !!
Timothy Herbert
and he’s hot

Some time I wonder if anything is good enough for gay critics,
every time some one gives support to the gay community the
evil monster of bitching and criticizing steps in.
How hard is to understand that “the more famous and prominent people in
society support us the more we gain from it?”
And with my apologies to all the “good” muslims, let be real, Islam is 100%
against gay, from jail time to death, get a clue guys, your friendly muslim
guy is not average, and when he talks to you, he doesn’t talk the same way to other muslims, because he cannot.
DarkZephyr
@Alistair Wiseman: So I take it that you are a gay hating homophobe who doesn’t support same sex marriage?
Desert Boy
It’s always easy to support an issue like marriage after it has been made legal. I wish Reynolds had been out-front in the battle for marriage a decade ago. Oh well.
Atomicrob
I always thought he was gay . . .
Masc Pride
Thanks Ryan! Your approval is really like the best news ever. Like seriously, we can all die happy men now that we know Ryan Reynolds agrees with the SCOTUS decision. He definitely deserves a pat on the back for this. A really, really hard pat on the back.
Stefano
@Realitycheck: you are absolutely right.
BJ McFrisky
@Masc Pride: Well, I’ll agree that he needs SOMETHING on his back.
Masc Pride
@BJ McFrisky: Lol never really saw the hype. He’s okay looking and has a great body, but the lesbian haircut just turns me off. But I guess it wouldn’t matter much with him face down. =)
Realitycheck
@Stefano: Thank you Love 😉
Alistair Wiseman
@DarkZephyr:
Wow, talk about a non sequitur. My point being that Mr. Reynolds would lose his career in “tolerant” Hollywood if he (or any actor) did not support same-sex marriage.
