It’s only Thursday afternoon, and yet here’s yet another story about a potential copycat killer invoking Orlando, this time in San Diego. It’s difficult to say if we’re doing more harm than good by sharing these stories, because it’s impossible to tell whether any of these are credible threats, or merely damaged people starving for negative attention.

Following similar incidents in Brooklyn, New York and Atlanta, Georgia, police are currently investigating a threatening Craigslist ad directed at San Diego’s LGBTQ community that read, “You’re next.”

ABC News reports the ad was posted to the men-seeking-men section; a viewer sent a screen shot to a local ABC affiliate before it was removed from the site.

Featuring a photo of a hand firing a gun, it’s titled, “We need more Orlando’s (sic).

Here’s the body of the post:

“Orlando was long overdue. Cleanse your community of the filth that gives decent gay men and women a bad name. Those people were walking diseases, bug chasers, and thank god for AIDS and 9-11 and now Orlando. San Diego you are next …”

San Diego police are now increasing their presence at gay clubs and bars around Hillcrest in response to the threat.
