Sarah Palin Has No Problem With Daughter Willow Calling Facebook Kids ‘Faggots’

How is mother Sarah Palin responding to the news that her 16-year-old daughter Willow called a schoolmate a “faggot” on Facebook? By blaming the lamestream media, natch!

Appearing on Sean Hannity’s show (on the network where Palin is a paid contributor), the ex-governor and reality television star lays out the defense of her daughter: she is the real bullying victim!

“People probably think that my greatest frustration is the lies that are told in the tabloids and on hateful blogs full of anonymous sources about my family,” says Palin, “and there are constant everyday lies that we have to read that are out there in the public. But my family and I…thick skin…we can take it, you know…we can take what the haters say despite the fact that there’s injustice in the situation. I mean, look at the other day. Willow, finally, my 16 year old, she had had it up to here with somebody saying very, very hateful things about the family and saying mean things about her little brother Trig, and Willow finally responded and she used a bad word when she responded in defense of her family. And her response became national news, even hard news copy it turned into, so that’s ridiculous and I had to explain to her, ‘Willow, there is no justice here but you have to just zip your lip and let’s move forward.’”

Missing from that parental lesson: There is no excuse for calling people homophobic slurs. But this is a woman who campaigned on the idea that gay Americans are less than, so that was to be expected. Or maybe it’s because the boy — Tre — Willow laid in to is actually straight, so what’s the big deal, right?

Also expected: Palin completely misrepresenting the facts. As Mediaite notes, “The exchange to which she refers contains nary a mention of Trig Palin, and was touched off by a single negative comment about Palin’s reality show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska. Palin would have been perfectly justified had she chosen not to get into the details of the story, but since she did, she ought to have described them accurately.”

For months before the mid-term elections, you gave republican hate mongers like Palin and others a huge fucking pass because you were so busy HATING our President. So now that you’ve successfully played your part in demonizing the democrats – thus influencing the elections, now you want to change course?

Let see how many stories you’ll post about the REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED congress and their unwillingness to act on DADT. The TeaBaggers and the Republicans will give the Gays a big hearty FUCK YOU! and you bitches at Queerty have only yourselves to blame.

She’s right, though. A silly girl makes one stupid comment, and we’re blasting it all over the internet and spewing hateful comments for weeks. Must be a traumatic experience for Willow, and i’m sure she’s not going to make the same mistake again.

I also think her mother probably chastised her in private, just as most parents do. I’m sure any parents in here will understand that when your child screws up and you discipline her, you want the matter to be settled. You don’t want the chastisement to be broadcast across the globe for weeks on end. That would be mortifying for any parent, and humiliating for the child.

We, as a community, are bullying this poor girl. What if Willow committed suicide after hearing the hateful things said about her and her family? What if Miss Prejean had taken her own life after we did the same to her?

Tolerance and acceptance have to start with us.

I think that, is bullshit (in the nicest possible way!) – I expect Palin did chastise her in private, but not in the right way. Willow Palin will have been given a telling off not for calling a boy a faggot, but for drawing negative attention to her mother’s media profile. We, as a community, do not need to tolerate such behaviour – tolerance and acceptance to not ever start with the minority group. Imagine telling any other minority that they need to start being tolerant of the oppressor to get ahead. The reason that there is any antagonistic behaviour on our part at all is because we are discriminated against. Whilst I accept that we have bigger foes than Willow Palin, I think its time we started to stand up for ourselves and fight the daily barrage of constant abuse and subtle negative feeling that results from accepting the use of homophobic slurs. The fact that Sarah Palin herself didn’t even address the use of the word and confirm that its wrong is demonstrative of her stance. Whilst she won’t say “gays are wrong” she won’t EVER positively affirm us – because her voter base is mainly white, lower income and religious. Those people have time and time again demonstrated a lack of tolerance and acceptance – and in fact display horrific hostility towards the LGBT community. So whilst it is no longer politically correct for her to go after us, a la Anita Bryant, lots of her voters still feel that way – so this is a subtle positive reinforcing of their bigotry. Whilst not being hateful is obviously the ideal, its genuinely outrageous to propose that the tolerance needs to start with us.

THey are just another family, I wish the media would just leave Mrs. Palin’s kids alone, because they are just people like EVERYONE else.
Sarah Palin? Well, she’s the public figure, tear HER down if you so wish, but let the kid get away with a slip of the tongue. It’s high school and even I, a fag, has called other people faggot before and no one has cared.

Now, when Sarah Palin called someone a faggot, which she will not likely do in public, because she is a mature adult, then we can go kick her metaphorical ego all over the place.

Sarah Palin is an obnoxious bitch. Whenever someone says anything negative about a group or a person, their “go-to” blame is the media. Copping out their own responsibility and blaming someone else. Seems to be the trait of the Republicans.
No one seems to take ownership of what they say and do anymore, it’s always finger pointing that seems to be their thing.
The Palin clan are the poster family for the kookiest family in America. Loser mom = loser children.

@Brent: I realize that teenagers say things. That is unavoidable. But Mamma Palin’s response to her daughter’s words is the key issue here. Pailn is always blaming the media. When she couldn’t reveal to Katie Couric of what magazines she reads, she later blamed the media. In fact, she blamed the media through her entire run for VP. That’s what she does, blames the media. Now, she’s blaming the media for what her kids say. Better parenting should be at the top of her list than going on a book tour.

Because according to Sarah, nothing, is ever, her fault. She can’t answer a simple question that any 12 year old in America could answer? Not her fault, it’s that Katie Couric was tricking her by asking “Gotcha” questions! Can’t handle interviews by other networks? Well they’re just picking on her because she’s “A Girl”. Daughter uses bigoted language? Thats the unfair result of the family being picked on.

Quits every job she’s ever had? Oh it’s the press’s fault. Nothing is ever her fault.

@Brent, ummmm, the article is about how Scarah Palin thinks it’s okay for her garbage mouthed-bigot child to use language that now in several states is not okay. You can be assured Willow would not be allowed to call someone NI@@ER, K!KE, DIRTY JEW, TOWEL HEAD, CAMEL JOCKEY, GOOK, CHINK, or (gods forbid) RETARD, so it’s okay for her to use the word “FAGGOT” on her Facebook (yes it was facebook) page.

Brent did you enjoy being called a faggot? I sure didn’t. Just because everybody does something doesn’t make it right and in some states she could face some issues for using hate language.

I will point out to you that Willow is less than two years away from her majority and that at 16 she is able to have orgies or be married without her parents consent. This is no small child, she is an incipient adult. People in the public eye are are subject to more scrutiny than rest of us, that’s the price you pay for fame. Willow’s parents agreed to have her on the show Sarah Palin’s Alasshole and the Palin family has been trotted out again and again as a pillar of American virtues. There are in the public eye, if they cannot stand it, give up the friending every jackhole on Facebook that “friends” Willow-Bianca Palin or commenting on other people’s pages.

@gray hunt: If you feel that way, then please advise Mrs. Palin to go back in time and stop herself from reprimanding people who call others “retards.”

That’s the irony of this situaton: she freaks out when people use retard in an offensive manner, but when her own child uses faggot offensively, she can just look past it? Give me a fucking break. That’s irresponsible, both as a parent and as a politican. She’s fishing for support, and there’s no doubt retards like you give it to her.

Also, we can’t call the woman a cunt/bitch/etc. because we don’t know her, yet you can barge in here and call of us strangers faggots? The irony here is both fucking epic and fucking retarded.

Lots of slurs are “tossed around like its nothing”, that doesn’t mean they don’t hurt people. Saying “thats gay” and “faggot” in association with things that are negative reinforces a sense of difference in both straight and gay people. It is really really damaging to progress. This word has been used to oppress Gay Men for almost 100 years in this nation and possibly as early as in Shakespeare’s writings in the end of the Elizabethan era.

Sarah Palin is not a private person. Sarah and Todd Palin allowed their children to become public figures when they went on the reality show Sarah Palin Sucks Scum From Manholes, errrrrr Sarah Palin’s Alaska. If you are a public person and want your children to be private people, keep them out of the public eye, ie; not on televison. Take a lesson from Mrs Onassis (Jacqueline B Kennedy) and keep them out of the public eye. If you foist your spawn on the public, the public has the right to criticize your little wads of flesh.

He is lucky that she wasn’t into gardening then or he would have been named brocchli :p) was supposdly a hard core meth addict and was given a choice of jail time or enlist in the military. And the best news of all is that Willow that little sunshine spewing shrew may be preggers!! How fucking juicy would that one be??????

Palinism is a mental disease characterized by delusions of grandeur about being President, and thinking that seeing a Russian island from an American one qualifies her to be president.

And her delusions also extend to worshiping snakes, and believing her daughter had a virgin birth. Soon to be worshiped as the daughter of God.

Honestly everyone willow is a fukin teenager, my cousins talk like that. “How gay?” “Stop being a fag” its part of teenage vocabulay. When they say “stop being gay or a fag” meaning “stop being stupid.” Get over it majority of you are uneducated peers, that just find reasons to critize. Its funny Willow saids “gay slurs” or whatever you want to call it. But majority of you are calling these women “cunts.” Give it a rest and focus on your lives, maybe going back to college and being educated on political science and actually learning about the goverment.

Do me a huge favor. Send that same info to your fellow HATER Sarah Palin.. tell her to read up on it. Until then, when you put your face and the children of your family out there in the public, then they are on display for everyone to judge. When one of them, or in Sarahs case, all of them are HATEMONGERS, that love to put others down while claiming to be good christians.. expect a little push back when they start using SLURS such as this one.

You might just take your own advice and clean up your own back yard before you come over in ours and start bossing any one around.

By the way, you just called every gay man and woman on this site, “STUPID”… AND I QUOTE “When they say “stop being gay or a fag” meaning “stop being stupid.””

@James: “I mean, look at the other day. Willow, finally, my 16 year old, she had had it up to here with somebody saying very, very hateful things about the family and saying mean things about her little brother Trig, and Willow finally responded and she used a bad word when she responded in defense of her family. And her response became national news, even hard news copy it turned into, so that’s ridiculous and I had to explain to her, ‘Willow, there is no justice here but you have to just zip your lip and let’s move forward.”

She might have acknowledged that it was a bad word, but the only person I hear her punishing is the media. Telling Willow there’s no justice, zip a lip and move forward? How about ‘Willow, I know you’re upset but that was a bad choice of word. Watch your mouth.’ Be a mom and step up.

Typical low level hatred of homosexuals in defending the use of homophobic slurs. Nobody I know uses them. None of the teenagers I have in any of my classes use them. It is typically the under-educated, the incredibly ignorant and the hate-filled who do. These folks need to be educated instead of reacted to with shrugs of indifference or moronic “kids will be kids” sentiments.

@JoeyO’H: Ding ding ding ding ding! Somebody give Joey a prize. EXACTLY.

Willow’s just a damn dumb teenager, just like every other damn dumb teenager. But this isn’t about her, per se. It’s about her mother, first, bringing attention to it while complaining about the attention, and second, totally copping out and blaming others. What the hell kind of message does that send, not only to her own kids, but all kids?

Someone here called Palin a “mature adult.” No. A mature adult would have said on television something to the effect of, “This is a private issue and my husband and I dealt with this in the manner we saw fit.” Then she would have refused to discuss it further, thereby pretty much ensuring an end to the matter.

But no. She got on T.V. and got all pissy with the very media that’s made her the country’s most obnoxious superstar.

She says all the time how she doesn’t want her kids to be targets, but she talks about them, points them out, puts them in the spotlight constantly instead of saying “My family are private citizens.” Oh, the attention lavished on the kids is all sunshine to her until someone says something negative. Then “Boo hoo hoo! The big bad media did it again!”

She’s not a mature adult. She has no ability to handle the spotlight and she’s a complete hypocrite. If you want others to shut up about your family, Palin, quit putting a laser pointer on them!

@Faggot: I have been a teenager for the past 5 years. As a queer 19yo I know what it is like to hear the term “thrown around”. Lets not forget where the word comes from… “bundle of sticks”… and what were the bundles of sticks for? To burn queer folk (among others). Any person that allows that word to be “thrown around” in normal conversation is clearly not an true American. Are we not a society founded on the statement that “all men are created equal” and that to each is given the rights of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”? Well I’m not happy when people call me a faggot and I sometimes fear for my life when I hear hate monger’s like you who just turn a deaf ear. There are two types of homophobia in this country: Loud and Quiet. We can see and hear the loud ones but we must now hold the quiet responsible for their inaction.
