There’ll be at least one less nutty broad on the campaign trail: Sarah Palin has announced that after much “prayer and serious consideration,” she won’t be running for President.
Speaking to supporters, she explained:
My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office – from the nation’s governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency. We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the ‘fundamental transformation’ of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law.
I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets, including in the race for President where our candidates must embrace immediate action toward energy independence through domestic resource developments of conventional energy sources, along with renewables.”
This is not good news, people.
christopher di spirito
Oh no! Who will Lawrence and Rachel and Ed yap about now on MSNBC?
Cam
Palin saw that the other candidates were actually asking questions and demanding answers during the debate and realized she could play the victim and claim that people were only asking her questions because they hated republicans or women.
Palin’s phony victim-hood was the ONLY thing she had going for her. But if somebody like Bachman asked her a tough question, it’s pretty hard to claim that she is a woman hater.
Or maybe she just took a look at the polls and realized everybody hated her.
The GOP is doing Obama the biggest favor in the world by continuing to run idiots.
tjr101
Oh no, I’m so disappointed…
christopher di spirito
Like Mama Grifter would give up the $10 million a year she pulls down from books, speaking gigs, appearances on FIXED News and blowing Roger Ailes.
Hyhybt
Not good news? Well, that depends either on whether you make your living poking fun at politicians, or what kind of a gambler you are. All the “serious” Republican candidates would be bad news if elected. The nuttier the eventual nominee is, the less chance they have of winning… but the worse off we will be if they do win. And the chance is NEVER 0.
Daez
@Hyhybt: So far, Obama has done absolutely nothing for the American public. Even he has freely admitted that “hope and change” NEVER happened. I think even Obama will be surprised if he can pull anyone from the middle of the aisle when it comes to reelection time. Like it or not, we run a very good chance of seeing a Republican win the election in 2012. What did we honestly expect from someone with absolutely no experience running anything but election campaigns?
Michael
In other news Sarah Palin admits shes dumb as dirt and cant wait to get dumber! 🙂
Politically Incorrect Thug
@Daez: You said it, pal. Apparently the 2008 presidential race was about empty promises and appearance, and not substance or experience.
Also, @Cam:
@christopher di spirito:
@tjr101:
Seriously—what is it with you people and your pathological need to bully conservative women? The headline implies, now that Palin is out of the 2012 race (and FYI she never was in, for those morons who’d convinced yourselves she was), that Bachmann must be targeted with ridicule. I don’t know if the gay community is just jumping on the “I hate conservatives” bandwagon to feel inclusive, or if you’re truly that vitriolic toward any woman who has an R after her name. Whatever happened to “Stop the bullying”? Did that only apply to heterosexuals bullying gays? Was it only a temporary phase? Are you that hypocritical? Christ. Try practicing what you preach for a change. (and before you deluge me with how horrible Palin is, don’t bother. I can’t stand the woman—never could. I’m not defending her. But what I find more astounding than her cluelessness is your venom toward her.)
Michael
@Politically Incorrect Thug:
My friend I can personally state that I have never been able to stand Palin.I try not to hate anyone because hate is such a strong word. But I never respected her anti gay views nor Bachmanns and the coldest thing about Bachmann is she was so cruel and heartless about these recent suicides of some of our LGBT brothers and sisters. Its just hard to find respect for someone who can not find respect for us.
I also happen to have plenty of conservative friends lovely people whom I adore .But unfortunately in every religion political affiliation and so on there are bad seeds in every group.Unfortunately those bad seeds can skew a persons perspective on everyone else at times.I think its that guilt by association thing.I never have been able to stand Michelle or Sarah or Sarahs family for that matter.I do not hate any of them but I definitely have a very strong dislike for all of them.
Johnson
Kristen Wiig already does a pretty good Bachmann impersonation.

Do you have a mother complex?

Politically Incorrect Thug,
Tell us what you like so much about conservative women?
NOM’s Maggie Gallagher, or ancient homophobe Phyllis Schlafly, or anti-DADT queen Elaine Donnelly, or crazed, Rep. Virginia Foxx (VA-R), or Christine O’Donnell, or Michelle Malkin?
I’ll make it easy on you. Just name one thing you like about each of them.
tallest
@Politically Incorrect Thug: The venom isn’t only directed at women conservatives, it’s directed to all conservatives who would see us denied rights, or locked up or killed, or chemically castrated or any of the other horrible things conservatives have rallied for against us. It’s not because they are women, it’s because they are stupid, vile, hateful bigots who hide behind the bible to justify their indecency.
And seriously, bullying? What are we 12? We’re adults, this is politics and not bullying. Is it bullying every time we call conservatives on their bigotry?

doesn’t it get exhausting to live each and every day working so hard to convince yourself that all the lies your tell yourself are true?
we get it. you’re a right-wing suck-up and only talk about LGBT Equality when you’re able to find a perceived-liberal to complain about with it.
you’re hilarious and sad in equal measure. as i’ve said before, listening to gay men like you complain about the “liberal left” is like listening to Ann Frank complain about attics.

My oh my, I should’ve forseen all the animosity from all of you posting replies. First off, my point was never to defend Palin—I believe her to be nothing short of a joke of a politician who rose to fame on the hype of stupid people who fell in love with her regardless of her lack of experience, just like, hmmmmm, lemme see . . . oh, yeah, our current president, who also rose to fame on the hype of stupid people who fell in love with him, even though he has no record of which to speak (sorry, couldn’t resist that jab). Also, my point is that it seems to me that the left (including the gay community but not restricted to) is so full of hate and anger that when one of their targets drops out of sight, they immediately set their sights on another. I personally know people like that whom I refer to as “Not happy unless they’re miserable,” and holy shit is that attitude predominate on this site.
@Michael: Must disagree with you on the “Guilt by association” theory, friend. Would it be appropriate if, say, a woman who was in competition with your boyfriend for a job promotion began using you as an example of why he shouldn’t get the job? If she screamed “Faggot” at you in public every time she saw you, just to make a point? If she claimed that your family’s genes could only produce retards? That’s how people have attacked Palin’s family, and while many of those who do think it’s just the funniest thing in the world, those are the same people who will jump up and down screaming how hurtful words are to us sensitive gay people. It’s all about the hypocrisy, and those who continue to preach it, regardless of political affiliation, can never expect to be taken seriously.
To be perfectly clear, I’m no fan of Palin, never was, but hating a person you’ve never met is nothing short of mob mentality.
Little Kiwi
@Politically Incorrect Thug:
You voted for McCain/Palin.
that speaks volumes about your character, or lack thereof, and you ability to intellectually discern.
you voted for her. you voted for mccain. you come onto this site every day to complain about how “little Obama” has done, yet you voted for McCain/Palin.
yeah. you’re so impressive.
Michael
@Politically Incorrect Thug:
I agree my friend that there is indeed hypocrisy within this community and people not mentioning ANY names who make it look bad just by THEIR association with it.
I also agree that those comments are not something to be applauded .We do not like being called derogatory names so why should we applaud if when others ARE?
Oh and I do not personally hate Sarah or her family as I said earlier strongly dislike them yes hate absolutely not.
It’s her stance against gay americans I take umbrage with more then anything.I just do not understand that kind of mentality never will.
Politically Incorrect Thug
@Michael: And you are absolutely right to dislike her for badmouthing gays—for badmouthing anyone, for that matter. She’s a dumb twit, but that’s my point: We’ve always known she’s a dumb twit, so why do they keep talking about her? Trust me, no one wishes she would go away more than I do. But again, I have to ask (because I know I’ll get an honest answer from you, Michael): Why the animosity toward her family? It’s downright unprecedented that a politician’s family has been such fair game. If her husband was a crook, I could understand dragging him into the mix, but her kids? Not only are her kids are no better or worse than anyone else’s, but it’s an absolute unspoken rule in politics that you do not use a candidate’s children as leverage, no matter what. And the Dems haven’t only broken that rule, they’ve shattered it.

LOL!!!!!! Wow, you REALLY need to read a post before you respond. I wrote a post about how Palin played victim all the time and any time anybody would ask her a question she claimed they were attacking her because she was a woman.
I said that if Bachman asked her a question during the debate that Palin wasn’t able to answer…that Palin could hardly claim that Bachman hated women.
You are SO wrapped up in the victimolgy memo sent out by the RNC and FOX NEWS that you didn’t even bother to read the post.
1. How did I attack Bachman? I said that if she asked a tough question Palin couldn’t claim Bachman was attacking her for being a woman.
2. You responded to a post claiming that Palin’s only answer to being asked questions was to claim she was being picked on….by claiming that she was being picked on.
Nice try but when somebody claims to be a “Mama Grizzly” she doesn’t ALSO get to run around saying “Oh Boo Hoo, you’re picking on me because I’m a girl”.
Michael
@Politically Incorrect Thug:
I agree my friend I personally dont think attacking someones family is right under any circumstances.But to be fair Bristol and her sister and Sarah have all crossed the line with their remarks at some point.For example before Gabrielle Gifford was shot Sarah had a website where they had a target symbol on certain peoples faces that was in extremely poor taste and after that even Sarah didnt even act as if the site was uncalled for if I remember correctly that is.I have no problem unlike some people here to admit when I am wrong. 🙂

@Cam:
OMG I just realized why Sarah has that look on her face in that picture… an actual thought crossed her mind but then left really fast.
Mom why do you have that look on your face?
Sarah: I just thought of something!
Do you remember what it was?
Sarah: *looks at Bristol for a minute and thinks* *years later* I remember now! No I lost it give me a minute!
Politically Incorrect Thug
@Michael: I do agree with you absolutely that Bristol Palin has become somewhat of a publicity whore, riding her mother’s famed coattails, and I don’t respect her for that. But let me share with you a brief personal story:
My father was an elected official who once attended a roast for a fellow congressman back in the 90s, a roast at which Oliver North and my dear old dad made some rather inappropriate jokes, one of which was a reference to DADT, which my father referred to as “Clinton’s Fags in the Foxhole Program.” Now, the comment didn’t faze me, because I’m not thin-skinned and I’m very aware of his raunchy sense of humor, but the backlash was so great that he had to do a press conference the next day and, in the process, he used the old “I know a gay person” mantra and outed me. In public. Before TV cameras. Told the world his son was gay. That was bad enough, but then the press descended on me. It was a bloody nightmare for me. I ended up quitting my job simply to avoid them, and finally had to threaten the Washington Post with a defamation lawsuit if they didn’t stop with the constant barrage of making an issue of the Republican’s gay son. So I do speak from personal experience, as a politician’s son, who’s been the target of political vitriol. Yes, my dad’s comment was the catalyst for the problems that befell me, but face it: Had he been a Demorcrat, I doubt a single reporter would have even flinched, much less harrassed me for the next three months.
Michael
@Politically Incorrect Thug:
Im so sorry you went through that my friend .I can assure you though at least I would hope so that anyone would have not liked the comments your father made whether democrat or republican.I do not mean that as any offense to your father I just think comments like that to me anyways seem to condone or justify bigotry or intolerance I don’t understand that at all.
I’m sorry you were harassed though based on his misguided comments whether joking or not no offense my friend but comments like that have always been hard for me to listen to much less see in writing.
Ive always been a sensitive soul same as my heart unfortunately.
Politically Incorrect Thug
@Michael: Believe me, I think I was the most forgiving person in my family after my father made those remarks. I have a gay cousin up in Boston who called my dad and chewed him out. The good news is, it was a joke aimed at conservatives, and that’s all. My dad is totally cool with me and he absolutely loves my better half, not to mention he’s cool with gays in general.
Be good, my man.

You mean like health-care reform (the first modest success after decades of trying with every previous attempt failing outright), and LGBT successes listed at http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/lgbt_factsheet_092611.pdf (which includes DADT repeal, which John McCain would have vetoed had he won the election given that he argued against it in the senate).
Nobody is claiming Obama is perfect (we’d all like to see faster progress), but can you imagine what a disaster it would have been if a Republican had been elected?

I was going to point to John McCain saying 13-year-old Chelsea Clinton “was ugly because her dad was Janet Reno” and Rush Limbaugh around the same time calling Chelsea “the White House dog”… but then you undermined your own point by telling a story about yourself a decade or two ago.
Perhaps you don’t understand the word “unprecedented”?

It’s a shame you had to go through that, but remember, the firestorm got out of control not only because of the foxhole comment but the additional racist joke that got all that attention.
But remember, your experience might make you sensitive to a situation, but that doesn’t mean that your situation is in any way comparable to the Palin’s. Did YOU get an agent and start shopping around interviews for money like her children have done? Of course not. Your situation was different. You were the target of unwanted attention because of a family member that directed attention on you to deflect from charges against them. The Palin kids are seeking out fame and fortune BECAUSE of their mom being in the public eye.
Politically Incorrect Thug
@Cam: Touche! You’re right—the Palins are, as I said, publicity whores. And apparently such whoredom is contageous: Levi Johnston just published a book. Such class acts, those Alaskans.

@Politically Incorrect Thug:
My problem with the republicans is that as a party they have an anti-gay attitude right now. So the problem is, there could be a fantastic candidate who has excellent ideas etc… but it’s not safe to vote for them because if the PARTY gets into party, they could push for the removal of gay rights. I think eventually they will realize that the anti-gay platform is hurting them in some areas and not gaining them enough, but as it stands now, they could have an excellent candidate and I wouldn’t trust the situation because they are still bound to the rest of the party.
It’s the same way OBama is bound to the Dems. He did not want to push for DADT repeal but when Pelosi shoved it down his throat he was stuck following the party.
Now, that said…my problems with ALASKA politicians….they just need to move to Hollywood and get it over with. lol 😉
