The Rally will feature hilarious MCs Bruce Vilanch and Vickie Shaw! Also, the amazing acts scheduled to perform include Martha Wash (pictured), Billie Myers, Meshell N’degeocello, and Ari Gold! Also scheduled to appear include are the New York Gay Men’s Chorus and the Broadway cast of Hair!
The first NYC LGBT Pride Rally occurred one month after the Stonewall Riots in June 1969 when 500 people gathered for a “Gay Power” demonstration in Washington Square Park. It was followed by a candlelight vigil in Sheridan Square. From 1997 to 2009, the Rally was held in Bryant Park.
Now, the 2010 Rally is delighted to be moving to Central Park’s SummerStage in Rumsey Field, 5th Ave and 72nd St. This event is free and open to the public. No tickets are necessary. The entire Rally will be ASL interpreted for individuals who are deaf/hard-of-hearing.
