I moved from classic white briefs in 1972 to Jockey Jockettes (very brief) in middle primary school, but wanted to go back to classic white in middle high school. Mum wouldn’t buy them, so after Uni when I left home in the ealy 1980’s went back to classic white briefs. They still are my favourite but from time to time wear colourful trunks.
I never found them all that comfortable.

The whole point of underwear is to absorb perspiration (so you can wear outerwear for a few days before it gets rank), prevent chafing from the seams in clothing, and provide some support. The thing that makes men’s clothing better than women’s clothing is the emphasis on performance and function.
The more it becomes about color, fabric, cut and supposed sex appeal, the closer it gets to a woman’s garment. I’ll take boxer briefs over these things any day. They do the job, and a man looks just as good in them when the pants come off. Men don’t need lingerie to be sexy.
