Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears Making Music With Queens Of The Stone Age

Screen Shot 2012-12-26 at 12.39.31 AM Scissor Sisters may be taking a break but lead singer Jake Shears is busy in the studio with The Queens Of The Stone Age, pitching on the band’s first new album in five years.

The out pop star tweeted “Jake Shears + Queens of the Stone Age – satanic cabaret” and posted various photos of himself with band members Josh Homme and Troy Van Leeuwen.

The untitled release, due mid-2013, will also feature Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor and former QOTSA member Nick Oliveri. It’ll be the first album for the band since 2007’s Era Vulgaris.

We guess Homme is watching his mouth these days: At a 2008 concert in Norway, he called an audience member who threw a bottle at him a “chicken-shit fucking faggot” and threatened to rape the guy. (Homme quickly issues a statement saying, “My gay family & friends, as well as myself, KNOW I am not a homophobe,” and chalked the rant up to having a flu.)

Shears, who commented recently that “gay celebrities at least have the responsibility to come out,” announced in October that Scissor Sisters were taking an indefinite—though not permanent—hiatus.
