Screening Bruce LaBruce’s Terrible LA Zombie Costs Film Festival Director $750

Richard Wolstencroft, the director of the Melbourne Australia Underground Film Festival whose home was raided after he screened Bruce LaBruce’s LA Zombie flick, which features porn star François Sagat, must now pay a whopping $750 fine (as well as court costs) for violating the Australian film board’s decision to ban the movie from being shown. Wolstencroft screened the movie in August after it was pulled from the Melbourne International Film Festival in July when Classification Australia refused to give it a rating, thus blocking its distribution. He faced a maximum two years in prison and $28,668 fine. Of course now everybody wants to see LA Zombie to see what all the fuss was about, but I’ll save you the trouble: Sagat wanders aimlessly around town and, uh, that’s about it.
