The sentencing for Chris Steele (AKA Mike Dozer), the gay adult film star who was found guilty on three felony charges in a child sex case, has been delayed after he canned his lawyer.
Steele (pictured) was arrested in Delaware in December 2013 for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old Pennsylvania boy he met on the gay hookup app Jack’D. According to investigators, he was aware of the boy’s age prior to hooking up with him, a claim the 34-year-old adult film star denies.

In October, Steele was found guilty by a United States District Court on three felony charges, including use of an interstate commerce facility to entice a minor to engage in sexual conduct, interstate travel with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor, and receipt of child pornography. He now faces a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison.

Steele was supposed to be sentenced on April 14, but sentencing was delayed after he filed a handwritten motion requesting a new lawyer and accusing his current lawyer, Kevin Mark Wray, of lying, providing bad legal advice, and not returning his calls.
It was also revealed that Steele’s 14-year-old victim testified against him at the trial and that Steele’s former boyfriend, Paul Gavin Britton, was also charged in the case, but took his own life before the trail began.
According to court records, Steele has been appointed a new attorney and his sentencing will be rescheduled and announced soon. But his legal woes won’t end there. Steele is also facing a separate trial in Pennsylvania, where he has been charged with more than a dozen felonies and misdemeanors, including statutory rape. That trial is scheduled to begin May 27.

A lot of it is our complicated legal system and the fact that politicians are constantly pushing to criminalize behavior without removing current law from the books. A lot of these outrageously long sentences are the consequence of people being convicted of essentially the same crime but under multiple statutes. 25 years is absolutely insane. Our criminal justice system needs serious reform, if not a complete overhaul.

Indiana, Kansas, Mississipi, Missouri and some other states allow 15yr old to be married (all it takes is parent consent and a court order) so there’s anomalies in any system that is based soley on chronological age. Some people are very precocious at 10, 11, 12. @Kevin: Simply stating ones opinion that the 14 yr old does share some responsibility does not make one a pedophile, nor is that reason for the FBI to go on a witch hunt. If that was how we did things freedom of speech would no longer be as reality. Is that what you want? Also you did not personally know the 14 yr old did you? So you can hardly attest to his mental abilities and just because someone is not an adult does not mean they cannot make decisions. Courts have ruled that juveniles can stand trial as adults numerous time so clearly they feel that in certain circumstances the juvenile was capable of making the decision.

There’s no excuse for Dozier/Steele and his paedophilic/ephebophilic actions. If he knew he was going to meet and have sex with a 14-year-old, he knew he was committing a crime. An adolescent that young is clearly not an adult and cannot consent to sex. The burden is on the adult, a 34-year-old in Dozier’s/Steele’s case.

As gross as it is to think of having sex with a teenager (I’m 29 and feel like a creep if I start flirting with a 22 year old) I do think that there needs to be some consideration for the minor making so many moves towards facilitating the sexual encounter. I know that kids make dumb decisions and that adults should be held to a higher standard, but unless there is concrete and verifiable evidence that Dozer (to use his stage name) was told, “I am fourteen years old and not entirely on board with this,” then the sentencing should not in any way include jail time.
Sure he traveled to Pennsylvania, but as a porn actor he was probably in the area for work, and even if he wasn’t adults travel all the time. Unless they can verify that he traveled there for the singular purpose of having sex with this kid while knowing he was underage, then I think it’s a gross miscarriage of justice to jail him at all, not to mention a waste of taxpayer money.

He PURPOSEFULLY TRAVELED to PA to have sex with this kid for that ONLY reason and knowingly exposed him to HIV through bareback sex. You all are sick fucks. The sheer number of sympathizers making comments is mind-boggling to me. Should the 14 year old face some punishment for his part? Sure. Maybe charge him with distribution of child pornography (since he sent pictures of himself). But should Mike Dozer get off with a fine and a slap on the wrist as so many on here are saying?
