Too bad much of eastern europe did not free itself from the tyranny of religious and political thugs. At least World War II taught us that when governments start scapegoating the human rights of gays those governments should be removed from the planet. Gays are the proverbial canary in the tunnel, the ultimate warning to everyone whether governments should be preserved or not. All the governments that violate freedom of religion have corresponding bad violations of human rights of gays.
