Let’s get this gayly forward. This supervisor had no previous issue with public nudity until the complaints about cock rings? Then why is he trying to ban public nudity instead of nudists wearing cock rings?

As someone with an ecology background, I take great offense to these people calling themselves naturalists. You are a nudist. A naturalist is someone who embraces natural history and the laws of nature, it has nothing to do with your right to walk around in cities with your clothes off.

I thought a cock-ring was something that went around your cock and balls to keep you harder longer, but this article sounds like it’s about piercings (like “earing”). Is “cock-ring” correct for both?

Doesn’t their Weiner Supervisor realize that if he bans public nudity (what, is he a dictator or something?) then they won’t need his specialized services any more?

the problem with freedom is that there are always going to be people who are going to try and take advantage. banning nudity in public is not the answer. creating a list of acceptable jewelry would help though. then there can be no confusion. people should be allowed to be nude if they choose. they should not be allowed to publicly display arousal though. if an erection happens naturaly that is one thing. it cant be helped but to intentionaly use something that encourages arousal is not appropriate. a clear cut set of ruls is whats needed not a ban.

@James: a cock ring just like nipple clamps are not jewelry. they are sex toys. plain and simple. not cool. the whole pourpose of nudity is to be in a natural state..

you know your country’s priorities are messed up when more people are angry at seeing a naked man than they are about the fact that easy-availability of guns and ammo gives your country epidemic levels of gunviolence.

sure, young people are being murdered in spree after spree. but let’s get upset over some penises.

I have always stated that I love everything about San Francisco except the people. What is going on there? Sorry fellas but public nudity is gross and wearing a cock ring in public is grosser. Just like Beverly Hills housewives who have convinced themselves that their grotesque plastic surgery is attractive, these idiots live in a bubble where they can’t see their own ridiculousness. It is amazing to me that some people are fighting for marriage equality, increased AIDS funding, non-discrimination and equal rights while these guys are fighting about the ability to wear cock rings in public. Grow up!

I know there are more important issues in the world, but at the same time I really don’t feel like looking at some guy’s cock and flabby tits while I eat my dinner… or for that matter, while I shop or drink an espresso or go to the post office. If you think I’m exaggerating, take a look at some shots of SF/Castro online…. I have nothing against the naked body and I think we have body-issues here in the US, yet I gotta admit, I don’t want to see guys walking down the street totally naked with their cock rings and stupid cowboy boots. Ahh, fuck it, give me another vodka. lol

I lived in SF for 25 years but moved away 10 years ago. Recently I visited and witnessed this new phenomenon of naked men in the little depressing homeless (encampment) park at Castro and Market. I have been a nudist all my adult life but I have no idea why someone would want to sit in this dreadful little park in the middle of a busy intersection in the middle of a bustling commercial district naked. Furthermore this is one of the windiest and coldest locations in a city known for cold, wind and grey skies. I could understand wanting to go to Golden Gate Park or Dolores Park and lay out naked in the sun on one of those rare sunny days but what exactly is the purpose of walking around a bustling commercial district naked? These guys who do have issues.

I encountered these nude guys on my visit to SF and the Castro this past July, can’t miss them they are right there as you walk out of the Castro Subway Station. Must say I did find it very odd indeed and yes it was a cold windy day for the middle of July, you talk about shrinkage.

Obviously these guys get off on wagging their willies in the Square and are there to be looked at trouble is why is it always the older fat ones.

Then do not wear a cock ring.
When I go the nude beach I go totally nude. No watch necklaces, rings, or anything at all. I want to be nude!
Cock rings i wear at bath houses, or other sexual events…………well I did until master slapped a chasity cage on me anyway.

One of the few reasons I pay the insane rents to live in San Francisco is the relative freedom and lack of authoritarian bull-puckey here (despite the best efforts of “concerned supervisors.”)

I have no interest to be nude in SF. I don’t really find the nudists to be all that attractive. But I support their right to be who they are.

The whole “I don’t like it” argument reminds me of the people who complained about “almost losing their lunch seeing two fags holding hands and kissing.”

The “it’s inappropriate” argument reminds me of the people who complain about the sex shop down the block from their apartment — when they moved in last month and the sex shop has been there for fifty years.

To the people complaining about the nudists having ordinary (or overweight) physiques, guess what — one day, you’ll be old too. And you’re probably not as hot as you think you are.

To all the pearl clutchers — there are dozens of Bay Area communities within which you may hang out and never see a naked guy. Palo Alto, San Mateo, Walnut Creek, hell, all of Marin County beckons.

Stop trying to ruin the free-spirited culture of the one bastion of the Bay Area that isn’t an uptight yuppie paradise filled with overly self-important prigs who are just horrified that people have penises and vaginas under their clothing. Please.

      THANK YOU… BayAreaHomo!

What’s up w/ all you people?! You don’t wanna be naked, keep your clothes on! Has it ever occurred to you that I may not like looking at you- clothed or not! Does that mean I ought to have a right to tell you what to do, even if it could be argued that you’re not hurting anyone with your bad-fashion?!

I’ve seen these guys for years; they’re not hurting anyone & are not parading around in an aroused state.

Srsly… jewelry is a red-herring. This is motivated by a small group of people that ‘get-off’ on telling others how to behave. THAT, to me, is where you ought to direct your concern.

This is especially humorous as we approach Folsom Street Fair. Don’t kid yourself, there are LOTS of folks that would like that to go away as well.

Whats next women can’t wear a low cut blouse or a necklace because it will draw attention to their breasts. This is so ridiculous. Obviously the SF Bay supervisor has some issues with his own sexuality or he is being pressured from some religious zealots. Only he knows the truth, but shame on him either way.

@corpsman: Slippery slope comments are the weakest form of argument – typically used by people who have nothing to back up their positions. No, legalizing gay marriage will not lead to man on dog marriage and, similarly, banning cock rings in public will not mean that a woman will be prohibited from wearing a low cut blouse or a necklace. Put some pants on and focus on what is important.

@Aidan8: So then don’t move to the Castro. I can’t stand all these people who move to a well established area and then expect the community to change for them. Typical ego-centric American thinking at its worst. If you don’t like the established character of a community, then don’t move there!!! What gives you the right to move to Castro, WeHo or any other gay areas and then start demanding that the community to change to suit your small minded sensibilities? Why don’t you move to Montreal and demand they speak English.
