Shanghai Bar Will Close If Management Can’t Lower The Noise, Halt Patrons From Sexin’ It Outside

Neighborhood animosity toward the Shanghai Studio, a gay bar in the Chinese city that just hosted a “Kiss Me I’m In China” event, isn’t based on the sexuality of the clientele but the noise, say the locals. The venue, which is actually an air raid shelter (apparently those are still necessary?) operated by the Changning District Air Defense Bureau, faces closure if operators can’t keep the oonce-oonce music to a minimum. It was originally rented out as an art gallery three years ago. Now it’s a place where surveillance cameras captures guys freakin’ it with each other in dark corners. Gay bars: The same wherever you are in the world.
