The purpose of Theater is precisely that of arousal. Intellectual arousal, Spiritual arousal, Ethical, Moral, Aesthetic and yes, even Erotic arousal.
Theater, like other forms of Art, serves the Public Good by informing the mind and the senses, and leading the audience to further thought, and more importantly, to discuss their experience with others.

Is this a serious question? Literally the only reason I saw Red Dawn was to see Chris Hemsworth shirtless and with a hot Marine haircut.
Ditto what greybat said – couldn’t have said it better, although I suspect my motives are generally less high-minded.
