SHOCK: 2 Israelis Gunned Down at Gay Youth Club In Tel Aviv

Three gay teens were murdered, and eleven injured, in a gunfire attack at a gay youth club in Tel Aviv tonight. The scene is described as a “bloodbath.” MORE: “Israeli police say a gunman entered a youth club for gay teens in central Tel Aviv on Saturday night and sprayed the interior with automatic rifle fire, killing three people and injuring 11. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said it was ‘most likely a criminal attack and not a terror attack.’ Tel Aviv has been a target for Palestinian militants in the past. He said the gunman burst into the basement of the Tel Aviv Gay and Lesbian Association and opened fire on a support group for gay teenagers. Police are searching the area for the gunman, who fled the scene, he said. Roadblocks were set up. Rescue services said six of the wounded were badly hurt.”

All gay bars in Tel Aviv have been closed.

VIGIL HELD: “Thousands of LGBT Israelis have held an impromptu march through the streets of Tel Aviv after a masked gun man opened fire at a centre for gay teenagers, killing three late last night. … Israeli media report that the incident took place during a meeting for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered) teenagers. Many of the teenagers meeting at the venue were not yet out to their families. Protestors held home made banners, rainbow flags and just simply marched with their friends in an act of defiance against the gun man. Others lit candles in honour of the three teenagers who are now known to have died. sraeli media report that a masked gun man dressed head to toe in black entered the venue, underneath Cafe Noir in Tel Aviv, 28 Nachmani Street at the junction with Ahad Ha’am Street. He shot at least 14 people, spraying the interior of the club with automatic rifle fire and reportedly attempted to enter another venue. Media report that the venue was the scene of a ‘blood bath.'”

MORE DETAILS: “Eyal Amit of the gay organisation holding the event told Israeli website Ynet: ‘For 15 years this place has served as a club belonging to the union for private rights. Today a teen meeting was taking place. At some point someone walked in and began firing left and right. The shooter escaped and we are searching for the suspect. We have no specific description of the suspect or the circumstances.’ Eye witness Yaniv Weisman told Israel’s Channel 10: ‘This was a hate crime, a premeditated attack.'”
