Fashion does not have to be fussy or flashy. Once a bastion for preppies everywhere, J Crew has recently developed compelling collections for men and is a wonderful alternative to Banana Republic in the mid-range apparel market. Their clothes are good quality, colorful, fun, and classic.
J Crew can be a great resource for the classics: sweaters and sportcoats. For sportcoats we recommend their tweed version in bright green, their take on Herringbone(which is back majorly), or their corduroy jacket in dark straw. These blazers look equally as good with wool slacks as they do with jeans. J Crew’s sweaters are great too. Be daring and grab the red argyle cardigan. If you are less inclined to channel Mr. Rogers go for a basic cableknit crewneck. Grab two: one in heather grey or black and the other in a more vibrant color.
J Crew’s clothes are versatile (hee, hee) more than anything. They can be dressed up or dressed down and are never too trendy. We recommend wearing sweaters under jackets. Just make sure that one is vibrant and the other not. A persimmon sweater would look great under a brown cord jacket with jeans. While a red wool sportcoat works great over a camel sweater with chinos. The key is to add some color while layering textures. It is a great fall look.
How about we take this to the next level?
