Short Short, Man.

“…A judge in Greenville County, South Carolina, has sentenced Stephen Moller to just under two-and-a-half years in prison for his role in the murder of Sean Kennedy. Sean was viciously beaten in an anti-gay attack, in 2007, outside of a South Carolina. Moller, who used a slur before attacking Kennedy, has served almost seven months in jail and was released on bond after the charges against him were downgraded to manslaughter from murder. At today’s hearing, a judge sentenced him to five years in prison . . . but reduced that to three years, with an additional seven months counted as ‘time served.’” [PFLAG]

I wonder how long he would be sentenced if this was a cute little girl. The media would be up in arms.

Agreed! Moreover, let’s see how many of the “zero tolerance” anti-crime right-wing pundits on cable news say a word about this story. Any bets?

“Sean was viciously beaten in an anti-gay attack, in 2007, outside of a South Carolina.”

Um, outside of a South Carolina what? Gay bar, baptist church, Kwik-E-Mart, glory hole, WHAT?

Seriously QueertY, you need a proof reader, copy editor, something because this happens in just about every single article posted. If you’re dyslexic, it’s alright, just let someone else type it. All of these broken sentences and dead end sentences over the last 2 years are driving me mad!

It’s a quote from the PFLAG blog, allstarecho.

While he should have had a “(sic)”, it seems to have been just a copy/paste.

The disgusting travesty of justice is the story…not the grammer. Pull your head out of your ass.

Our criminal justice system has some real big problems.

Why was the charge reduced to manslaughter in the first place? What ever happened to second-degree murder, Mr. Prosecutor? Why wasn’t he at least given the maximum manslaughter sentence, Your honor? Why isn’t there an enhancement for it being a hate crime, Mr. Legislator?

After all, Moller KILLED Kennedy and he did it because he thought he was gay…too often there is no justice. Let us hope there is indeed a higher justice or karma or something, cuz it’s just reprehensible that Moller could get off so lightly.

I remember one long hot summer I spent in Columbia (“Hell Hole”) South Carolina. May Moller and his ilk spend an eternity there.

I’m not sure if anyone above knew Sean, but I was lucky enough to. I got a call from my sister at work today telling me the news of the unjust sentencing a MURDERER got. I was completely shocked. There has got to be something we can do about this. It was obviously a hate crime and there is no getting by that. I just wanted to write so I could thank the other people out there that are mad about this. I don’t know if you would have taken action before reading this, but if you weren’t, please do. We have got to make a change for all gays so that this will never happen again.

This sounds like a complete miscarriage of justice. Can’t the Kennedy family appeal, or institute civil proceedings, or something?
