All it takes to make the traditional short-sleeved dress shirt cooler and more wearable is a narrower sleeve and a more tailored fit, and it’s one of the cutest looks this summer, with great choices at all different price points. Club Monaco makes a nice, basic shirt for $59, and then there is the $205 one from Band of Outsiders (pictured above, our favorite); both show off your arms and a bit of chest if worn without a tie. It’s an uptight, sexy look that will make the boys want to undo each and every one of those buttons, but please make sure you tuck it into your pants.

with pocket is nerdier. with pocket while watching spellbound (the spelling bee doc not the hitchcock deal) on dvd is nerdiest. losing $205 for 3 oz. of fabric is not nerdy. but i guess that’s where the word chic comes in. personally i’d prefer a true nerd in mtv ready clothes. it’s the nerd on the inside that counts.
