Sin?

"Americans are nearly evenly divided on whether they believe homosexual behavior is a sin, a new survey showed. While 48 percent of Americans agree it is a sin, 45 percent said they don't believe homosexuality is sinful, according to a LifeWay Research study, released Wednesday. Although those who are religiously affiliated were more likely to call homosexual behavior sinful, the director of the research group cautions that there are still many believers who don't view the behavior as sin." But what about all those people who think the government should butt out of the gay marriage debate? [Christian Post]

I've personally decided not to care what religious wackos think of me, and this extends to their "polls" as well. Since the same people who think what I do is a sin against their invisible friend in the sky also believe in an invisible friend in the sky, their opinions should be discounted accordingly.

I think watching Bill O'reilly and listening to Dr. Laura and Rush Limbaugh are a sin.

I think that in most cases the Christian lifestyle is sinful.

Gregg: Str8 folks have a*sholes, too. I personally know no small number of them who use them for gratification. And lets not forget that lesbians are homosexuals, too…and I know none who engage in anal sex. Its no more an exclusively homosexual activity than grocery shopping is a "hetero" activity.

Your ignorance, small-mindedness and knee-jerk reactionism are showing, and HOW.

I'm surprised to read that 55% of Catholics do not think homosexuality is sinful and that 32% of people said a church being negative about the gays would impact negatively on their choice to join that church or not.

Catholics, in fairness, are a moderating influence on all those crazy, vile, Evangelicals.

CitizenGeek, it's a pretty funny coincidence to read your post right after watching the ep of My Name Is Earl where Kenny's crush, "Stuart", says he can't be with him b/c he's Catholic.

I think American Catholics are now one of the mellow Christian groups. Perhaps several generations of stricter Evangelical Christians will also yeild this kind of easygoing Christian. I mean each generation seems more and more reluctant to embrace the fascistic extremes of their parent's faith. Maybe it's something that takes time to work itself out. Remember Catholics a century ago? Much more zealous. Only, I'm afraid that even if Evangelicals went soft and sensible, another ugly head would sprout up in its place.
