Here are two of 23/6's suggestions for South Carolina's "So Gay" ad campaign, which gay group SC Pride will fund. The Tourism bureau, you'll recall, originally squashed the ad, but SC Pride raised the money on their own.
Governor Mark Sanford was a particularly vocal opponent of the campaign, so we bet he won't be laughing at these mock-ups. We are, though.

The groups should save its money. We won't be going there. SC is a drive-through, fly-over state.
Call me a prude, but I don't think a gov't agency should fund the "bottom" ad. Its too suggestive and if you are straight, it could be offensive.
LOVE the advertisements!
I spent the summer of 2002 working in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. And I met my first love/lust there. I didn't come accross the gay beaches but there was a gay bar in the area which I never plucked up the courage to go into :( Good times all thesame though. Met quite a few closet cases that summer too :)
Can we turn South Of The Border into a big gay resort?
I wrote SC dept. of tourism yesterday, telling them due to their homophobe governor, I'll spend my queer dollars ELSEWHERE.
I don't really see the point of these unless they were only distrubted in gay locales (or websites) for the purpose of highlighting any gay attractions for gay people. It serves no purpose to publish them for the masses. I don't want to be at a tourism bureau and see- South Carolina "We're so straight you have to sex with a woman just to enter".
Can I get that unmarried uncle's number?
im sorry but i think those ads are horribly cheesy and just all around bad.
not that i would ever want to go to SC anyway.
This is why the New Yorker/Obama thing worries me. It's satire people. I suppose you guys take the onion and fox news seriously too.
I don't think people have any reading comprehension skills any more. These ads are parodies and are NOT REAL ADS being sponsored by any government agency. They're jokes, put ons, satire. No wonder we have the government we have, no one in America pays any attention any more, we just look and don't see, read and don't comprehend, listen to sound bites and figure we've got all the facts we need. These ads are being funded by a gay group to mock Gov. Sanford and the SC Tourism Department, neither of whom will find them very funny. Geez.
do you suck cock?
so do we.
South Carolina: sucking cock since King Charles II
Those are so distasteful!
And that's why I love 'em.
Something needs to raise money in South Carolina, since having LGBTs invest in your state is something you've turned down. How about drilling off shore, or having a new oil refinery, or a nuclear plant, or storage of nuclear medical wastes.
Know that when any of these less palatable alternatives come up nationally, I and other LGBTs will support the WORST of them go to SC…just saying.
